AN: My friend's been bugging me to write another fanfic for a while now, and I haven't had any good ideas. Then this sprung into my head, and I want to get it out of my head before it drives me insane. Heather, this one's for you.
This chapter is in Tempe's POV, sorry if it's OOC. I might do another version in Booth's POV, depending on the reviews.

We had just finished a particularly trying case, a serial killer choosing his victims from a carnival he frequented. It was just one of those cases where it drags along, slower than a snail can crawl, with few leads and almost no evidence. The kind of case you wish you'd never started in the first place.
We were at the carnival, assuring the owner that we had put the killer away. When we were done, Booth said, "Come on Bones, I've got a surprise for you." I made a face, saying, "Booth, you know how much I hate surprises." His only reply was, "You'll like it, I promise." I sighed and rolled my eyes, but he put his hand on my lower back in that possessive way he has, and I didn't make a move to leave.
He steered me toward a small cotton candy stand, and got a large bag of the pink kind, my favourite, for us to share. He paid and handed me the bag, then returned his hand to my back. This time he led me to a large ferris wheel, pulling 8 tickets, enough for the both of us to ride, out of his pocket.
I knew the ferris wheel wasn't safe, none of those cheap carnival rides are. But with Booth sitting next to me, I felt safer, illogical as that may be. I knew he wouldn't let anything happen to me; he'd protect me until the day he or I died, if I let him. Should I let him? said a small part of my brain. I didn't give myself the chance to think about it.
It was dusk, and all the carnival lights were on. The ferris wheel, the giant swinging pirate ship, the log ride, the roller coasters, everything was light up with hundreds of multicoloured lightbulbs. We got on the ferris wheel, and I let him put his arm around my shoulder as we sat in comfortable silence and admired the view.
We had a nice view of the carnival, and the smell of popcorn, cotton candy, hamburgers, and hot dogs wasn't as powerful. You could smell the freshness in the air, from the rain earlier that day, and the sweet smell of all the cherry trees. Turning to look away from the activity of the carnival, I looked out over the city.
D.C. lay to our right, and you could see all the monuments and important government buildings all lit up. The pink blobs that lined the street were the blooming cherry trees, a popular tourist attraction this time of year. You could see the cars, crawling along in the perpetual traffic.
Against my better, logical, judgement, I leaned into Booth, whispering, "It's so beautiful. Thank you." I could hear him smile, and say, "Anytime, Bones. Anytime."

So that's the end. Just a short BB friendship piece. Hope you like it, and just remember: the review button is your friend. :D Have a great rest of the summer, people.
I've got an unfinished fic that I'd completely forgotten about, I might finish that up. It'd take a bit of reworking, I'm not too fond of it.
