Luffy pointed out the meat-shaped stars and Ussop boasted of how he had fought giant aliens who threatened to switch the stars off – he had been the one who took them down, single-handedly and-

Chopper gasped, eye gleaming.

Nami rolled her eyes.

Robin shared some of her knowledge on stars, supplemented by Nami's occasional input, Sanji's absolute admiration and awe, and Zoro's snores (that turned into a snort, then a grunt, then a holler when he woke up after being kicked by Sanji for interrupting Robin when she was speaking; then of course, this led to swearing and the clink of swords being drawn).

Nami dealt with the slight diversion with a Look that meant Business; even Luffy slid off the mast he had been scaling (to see if he could grab some star-flavoured meat – or maybe meat-flavoured stars) to hunker down by Ussop (hiding behind Chopper).

Luffy lost Robin's train of thought, watching it turn into a fire-breathing really cool Mystery dragon that set fire to Zoro's hair and dived into the ocean. Ussop started another tale of adventure of which he could travel at the speed of light. Luffy thought that was silly; light didn't move, it was just there. Like mist that tasted like pea soup. Or meat. Or… meat.

Sanji passed around snacks, pausing to beat down pummel Luffy to the ground for trying to grab extra. There was a tiny scuffle (somehow Robin ended up getting an extra cookie).

"…the light that reaches us is light from ages ago." Nami tried to explain it to Ussop when the latter crossed his arms with a frown. "Because of the distance."

Luffy beamed. "Mystery Light!" He pelted himself to the other end of the deck, waving his arms. "Oi! Robin!" He cupped his hands around his mouth. "I'm speaking from the past! Can you hear me? Helloooo!" Ussop and Chopper sprung up to join in his nonsense, and Brooke and Franky swiftly demolished their remaining cookies.

A smile twitched on Robin's lips. "I hear you, Captain."
