Rachel finds Quinn alone under the bleachers during her free period. She seeks her out to convince her, again, to come back to Glee. Or at least, that's her excuse. In reality, she just wants to see Quinn, to be in her presence again.

When Quinn disappeared over the summer, no one knew where she was, except Rachel… because that's where Quinn disappeared to. While Rachel spent a good portion of her summer with Finn, she spent the rest of her time with Quinn.

"Quinn," Rachel says in a near whisper.

Quinn doesn't look up, doesn't make any attempt to acknowledge Rachel's presence. She just takes another drag on her cigarette and exhales the smoke. Rachel takes a step towards Quinn, and then another.

"Quinn," Rachel says, more determined than before.

Quinn looks at her now with hard eyes. "Save it, I'm not coming back."

"That's not really why I'm here."

Quinn waits for Rachel's explanation. When she doesn't supply one, Quinn steps into Rachel's personal space. Her nearness makes Rachel shiver. Quinn takes another drag on her cigarette and blows the smoke in Rachel's face. Rachel tries not to cough, but the smoke does more than just irritates her lungs, it turns her on. She remembers all those times over the summer, post-coitus, when Quinn would smoke a cigarette like she just came from a 1940's movie.

"What. Do. You. Want?" asks Quinn.

Rachel doesn't say anything, doesn't move, doesn't blink. Quinn's face is inches from hers and all she wants to do is close the distance between their lips.

"Was it ever real?" Rachel asks Quinn. "What we had? It feels like a dream."

Quinn knows that it was real. She knows she fell in love with Rachel and Rachel with her. But Rachel wouldn't leave Finn. So Quinn left Rachel. She dyed her hair, got a tattoo and piercing, and started hanging out with people who didn't remind her of Rachel, people outside her former friend circle, people who would help her forget how much Rachel's betrayal hurt.

Quinn's answer is cold and unwavering, "No. You were just my fuck-buddy, Rachel. You didn't mean a thing."

But Quinn blinks, and Rachel can see it in her eyes, the hurt. "Liar," Rachel challenges. Rachel wraps her hand around the back of Quinn's neck and pulls her face mere millimeters from her own. "You're such a horrible liar," Rachel whispers against Quinn's lips. She ghosts her lips over Quinn's, teasing her and challenging her to connect their lips the rest of the way.

Quinn tries to resist, despite the overwhelming urge to kiss Rachel breathless. She stands her ground and pulls back slightly. Rachel's chocolate-brown eyes bore into her hazel ones and makes Quinn wants to give in. But she can't, not when Rachel and Finn are still together.

"You want me? You know what you have to do," Quinn says before turning her back on Rachel. She takes a few steps to put some distance between them.

Rachel stays for a moment but soon walks away because she can't do what Quinn wants her to, not yet.
