Blue Moon

Chapter 1

The sky was dark as bodies climbed towards a large stone structure. The dark figures filed into the cave, retreating to makeshift dens carved into the stone walls of the cave. One large specimen separated from the group. He leaped atop a large bolder in the center of the cave and groomed his fur. The cats of Deathclan had returned from a battle won after a long, bloody confrontation with a rival clan, Thunderclan.

Ramhorn was the name of this gruesome character. He was the leader of this blood thirsty clan that lived on the cliff's edge. His fur was naturally blood-red, but was often covered in blood of his opponents. Thin, black stripes crawled up his muscular legs and his long tail. His large claws were scarlet from the wounds he had inflected on his enemies and his eyes were as red as the blood that covered his flank. He watched his clan enter their dens to rest. After the last cat was in his den, Ramhorn leaped from the rock and into a den just below the huge stone. He lied in a cot of leaves, moss and other items and began to groom himself.

Late into the night all of the now well groomed cats had fallen into a deep sleep and silence gripped the forest. Only the sound of prey scampering across the forest floor was heard throughout the clans' territories. But, large paw steps soon disturbed the relatively quite world. The clawed paws clumsily dragged across the ground as if the creature couldn't care less if it was heard. The creature was a cat of huge proportions with eyes as dark as the sky and a pelt of crimson gold. His tail lashed back and forth behind him as he padded past the trees of the forest. He wasn't of the mortal world, being a spirit from Deathclan's ancestors, Hellclan. The spirit was known as Blacksoul, a former leader of Deathclan. The huge tom lifted his bulk into the air and lazily levitated towards Deathclan's camp, fog covering the land he past overhead.

Ramhorn stirred in his sleep, recalling old horrors of battles long won. He opened his red eyes slightly and grunted placing his paws over them in attempts to drift back to sleep, although he didn't want to. He finally gave up sleep and exited his den and out of the cave. He took a deep breath and looked to the sky. He saw Blacksoul at the head of a large fog that devoured the forest. His eyes narrowed as he sat down to wait for the spirit.

Blacksoul landed a few tail lengths in front of Ramhorn, his face giving off no emotion. Ramhorn bowed before the ghostly figure and he nodded in return. "Welcome, my lord." Ramhorn meowed. "Aye."Blacksoul's voice was deep and haunting Ramhorn was unfazed. "The Blue Moon approaches, you are aware of this, yes?" The old leader asked. Ramhorn nodded. "I am." "Hellclan is as well, lad, prepare yourselves as it will come all too soon." And with that. The ghostly tom was gone. Ramhorn blinked and looked up to the stars. "Till then." He meowed and padded back into the cave to sleep.

Short chapter, I know! Give me a brake here!
