Edelle's voice: I wanted to tell them immediately after we got back…
"Edelle, honey, Mrs. Scrubb just phoned; they're inviting us over for dinner!" cried Mrs. Gilbert "Of course, the Pevensie kids will be there too…but don't mind them."
I really did…
"Pleasure to finally meet you, Mrs. Gilbert. My name is Edmund Pevensie." He gallantly kissed the lady's hand.
"Pleasure." She took her hand away "I assume you're friends with my daughter?"
"You could say that." Edmund nodded, knowing how horribly understated the word "friends" is in their state.
"Hm…"
But I suppose it could be kept a secret for a while…
"Janet, this deal with the Scrubbs is a jewel!" Mr. Gilbert sighed contently "I'm just so glad our daughter isn't putting up a fight. After all, Eustace is not the worst she could have got."
Or could it?
"What did you just say?" Mrs. Gilbert asked incredulously
"You heard me, mother." Edelle said, putting all her strength in keeping her voice from quivering
Scene shows Mrs. Gilbert locking a door
"You'll sit here until you get your head back!"
"THIS IS RIDICULOUS, LET ME OUT!" Edelle banged on the door
At least I know I'm not alone…
Scene shows Edmund hugging Edelle tightly "We'll figure something out, I promise."
Scene flashes to Edelle and a woman in her late-twenties in Edelle's room
"Charlotte, you really don't have to…"
"Save your breath, Edelle, I'm not sitting around watching my only niece end up like me."
Scene flashes to Edmund, Edelle and Lucy in front of a just-arrived train
"Peter!"
"Susan!" Lucy and Edmund smiled brightly
"Great to see you guys!" Peter smiled back and hugged his siblings
"We've missed you so much!" Susan cried
Edmund gestured towards Edelle as she carefully came closer "Peter, Susan, I'd like you to meet Edelle Gilbert."
Peter grinned "Ah, so you're the girl that captivated my brother"
"Edmund had written us about you. Great to meet you, I'm Susan." She gestured to herself
"Thanks for clearing that out, I was almost confused for a second." She shook her hand, mirroring the friendly smile.
Yeah, no one said it would be easy…
Scene shows Edelle and Mrs. Gilbert yelling at each other
"We're doing what's best for you!"
"NO, MOTHER! You're doing what's best for YOU!"
Scene shows the Scrubbs house
"What's going on here?" Mr. Scrubb asked, walking in the living room
"Your son, Harold, was just telling me how he wants to cancel the engagement!" Alberta said in a high-pitched voice
Harold blinked, speechless
And Aslan did say we have great barriers to overcome…
Scenes start flashing on after another
Mrs. Gilbert slaps Edelle across the face
Aunt Charlotte pulls a key out of Janet's pocket
Edelle sits on a bed, doubled over, crying between Lucy and Susan
Eustace and Jill Pole stand hand in hand in the middle of a beautiful meadow, looking around with wonder
Edmund jumps in front of Edelle, catching Mr. Gilberts hand, which was about to hit her
Peter, Susan, Edmund, Lucy and Edelle get on a train
Helen Pevensie opens the door to their house and they come in
Mrs. Gilbert rips apart a letter
When you truly cherish something you shall keep fighting for it
Edmund crashes Edelle to him in a passionate kiss
Black screen
Then appears the title:
