Nickname
Boq used to call her Nessie.
It was his special nickname for Nessa. No one had ever called her that before.
But then she became governor of Munchkinland, and her special nickname disappeared, replaced with "Madame Governor."
Nessa hated to hear him call her that. She continued to insist that Boq should call her Nessie again, but he refused.
So now Nessie was gone.
If she was going to be called Madame Governor, she was going to act like Madame Governor.
Nessa missed being called Nessie. Of course she did. But that wasn't who she was anymore.
Boq used to call her Nessie.
But now she was Madame Governor.
