100 Years Later

Bella's POV

The year is now 2106. It's been 100 years since the Volturi incident, 100 years since we moved away from the town of Forks after that horrible night that my family and I will never forget.

It was our last night in Forks. Charlie knew as much as he needed to know. We were moving on to stay with our cousins in Denali. I knew Charlie would miss us, and I also knew that without a doubt I would miss him. Renesmee finally broke me down, she had been begging me to let her sleep at her Grandpa Charlie's house in my old room for her last night in Forks. I dropped her off and said a quick goodbye to my dad. I thought I would have time for a longer goodbye when I picked Nessie up in the morning. I wound my way up the long driveway and ran to the cottage to finish packing. Around 8:00 in the evening I got a call. I recognized Charlie's number, but I could barely hear what the person was trying to say. I threw the phone down and rushed over to Charlie's house to find the door kicked in and Renesmee cradling her grandpa's head in her lap.

"Grandpa, please wake up!!" Nessie cried.

"Renesmee what happened?" I managed to choke out through dry sobs.

She reached her hand up to touch my face. That night's incident played through my head like a horror movie. A large man burst in through Charlie's door. She was sitting with Charlie on the couch; Charlie jumped up and startled the man. Seeing Renesmee the man said, "I'll shoot the kid first that way she won't have to see when I shoot you."

The man laughed and Charlie jumped at him to protect Renesmee, that's when two shots were fired. The man ran away leaving Charlie bleeding and wounded on the floor.

"Renesmee tell Bella that she meant the world to me, and that I loved her…I love you," he whispered weakly before closing his eyes for the last time.

Edward found us a few minutes later, the dry sobs took over my body and Renesmee was curled up in my lap.

"Bella we will find out who did this," he assured me reading Renesmee's mind.

We stayed there, Renesmee in my lap, Edward sitting next to me holding me close to his chest, and I was clutching Charlie's hand. We didn't officially leave our house in Forks until after Charlie's funeral, but we did eventually leave.

Edward, Renesmee, Jacob, and I pulled up to the gates of Forks Cemetery, basically an entire flower shop in the back of our cars. Today we were here to visit our friends and family. The Forks Cemetery was unfortunately home to most, if not all, of our friends. We laid flowers on the graves of our dearly departed. We visited the graves of our friends Angela, Ben, Mike, Jessica, Quil, Claire, Sam, Emily, Jared, and Kim.

We saved the graves of our family for last, Jacob and Renesmee went to visit Billy, Sarah, Rachael, Paul, and Sue. Edward and I went to visit Charlie, our daughter's protector.

"Hey dad," I whispered trying to hold in my dry sobs. "Renesmee is so big now thanks to you. Not a day goes by that I don't think about you. Thank you dad for saving her life and I'm sorry I didn't get there sooner, maybe I could have saved you." By now the dry sobs I was trying to hold back, wracked through my body. "I love you daddy more then you will ever know," I finished throwing my arms around his headstone and sobbing.

Edward wrapped his protective arms around me and pulled me in close to his body. He kissed my head and led me away.

"Thank you Charlie, for Bella, and for Renesmee. I will never be able to tell you how much you have given me. I promise to care for them for eternity," Edward whispered as we walked further away. We walked back to the car, and silently slid into the seats.

"Goodbye I love you," I said as we drove down the concrete path.
