This came to me when I woke up this morning and I just had to write it down. MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!

The song isn't mine, I heard it somewhere, and I have no idea who it belongs to, but as long you realise it isn't mine, that doesn't really matter, does it?

Are you sitting comfortably? Then I'll begin . . .

*~*~*

I Watch You Sleeping

I watch you sleeping, little angel face

And on behalf of the human race

Welcome to this crazy place

My baby. My son. Come finally into the world after long months of patient waiting. Perhaps one day I will tell you of the journey here, and the hardships we faced. Long have I wanted to hold you in my arms, sing you to sleep, and now my wish has been granted.

I watch you sleeping, innocent and free

I don't know what your dreams may be

And you don't know what you mean to me

It seems such a strange place to begin a life, in a stable, in a town so far from home. But there was no room, my son, and the innkeeper offered us his stable for the night. Who could have foreseen that you would wish to join us on such a night as this?

You have never heard thunder, you have never seen the rain

But you can still feel the wonder and you can still feel pain

And sometimes you look at me, so wise and so sure

I could easily believe you have been here before

Your road stretches ahead of you, full of hardship and suffering. We all have a place and time given to us, and yet yours is different. You will know what you must do, and why. When that time comes, I know I will be glad of this moment, the memory of holding you in my arms on the night of your birth.

I won't be here forever, but as long as I am around

I promise you I will never let you down

To help make a world you can feel worthy of

I will teach you to fly on the wings of my love

So many men have come to see you this night, my son. Shepherds, who couldn't have known of our presence in the town, sought us out. They brought you a blanket, and a lamb. And they worshipped you. So young, and so loved.

I watch you sleeping, brave and unaware

You don't know yet, so you don't care

I want you to know that it's hard out there

I am afraid, my son. My task is not over, it has just begun. I must raise you, but I do not know if I will be able to let you go. What is to become of us? Sshhh, don't cry. I'm here. I will never leave you, my son.

I watch you sleeping, little angel face

And on behalf of the human race

Welcome to this crazy place

I will always remember this night. The stars are shining, the air is still. My newborn baby lying in my arms. My son . . . My Jesus.
