Balto and Jenna's puppies were in the little wooden box on the street, waiting to be adopted. Balto and Jenna stood nearby.
A little boy and his dad soon came up to the box and adopted Dingo. Jenna assured Balto that she new the boy would make a good owner for him.
Not long after another child ran up to the box to pick out one of the puppies. One by one the puppies were taken until only Aleu was left. Hours passed, and still know one had adopted Aleu.
"It's just like I was afraid of," thought Balto to himself. "No human is going to want to adopt Aleu. As much as I hate to admit it, she does look even more like a wolf then I do."
Suddenly Balto and Jenna heard a shout from across the street.
"Wow, free puppies!" A little boy with blond hair and glasses was running away from his parents towards the box. Balto and Jenna became hopeful. The boy got to the box and looked inside. Aleu greeted him with playful yips.
"Only one left. Wow, looks like I got here just in time," said the boy. He reached down and petted Aleu.
"Who's this kid?" Balto asked Jenna.
"I don't know," said Jenna. "I don't recognize him. Maybe this is the family that I heard just moved up here."
"Who would want to move here?" asked Balto.
The boy's parents came over to their son. He picked up Aleu and showed her to them.
"Can I keep it? Please?" he asked.
"Well, I don't know," said the boy's mother. She turned to her husband. "Honey, what do you think?"
The man thought for a moment. "Well, I don't see why not. It seems like everybody else up here has a dog. We might as well have one to. But you'll have to take care of…" he looked closely at the pup for a few seconds, "…her. She's your responsibility."
"I will. I promise." The boy looked down at the puppy in his arms. "You're coming home with me."
Aleu yipped happily and started licking the boy's face, making him giggle.
"Come on, Adam," said his mom as his parents started walking away. The boy quickly followed after with Aleu in his arms.
Balto and Jenna sighed with relief.
"Thank goodness she was adopted," said Balto.
"Yeah," agreed Jenna. "Although now we have no movie."
"Oh, so what? Wolf Quest stunk anyway. Now we can just skip right to Wings of Change. I get to ride in a plane in that movie."
The End
