Upon hearing the news, Mrs. Weasley threw down her dish towel, turned on her heel and stopped off into the kitchen, where she began to bang pots and pans; without magic of course.
BR
"You don't regret anything, do you?" Neville's voice brought me out of my daze.
BR
"Merlin, no! Neville, you know I could never regret something like that! I love you!"
BR
"I know, but I just feel like it's all my fault! You're sixteen, not even of age! We could have waited!"
BR
"But we didn't. Neville, waiting wasn't exactly an option. We thought we were going to die, and it was by luck alone we didn't." This didn't seem to pacify Neville, in fact; it seemed to make him even more anguished.
BR
"And what if I had died? Where would you be? Alone, and like…like this!" He broke down, putting his head in his hands. I twisted the engagement ring around on my finger, and as I did the thought occurred to me for the first time that I might not be wearing it forever.
BR
"Neville…this ring…this…engagement…it wasn't just a ploy to get what you wanted from me, was it? Did you not want it to go beyond that night?" I thought about his room of requirement proposal, which he had made the night before he left to find Harry. He knew he might be facing death, and he said he couldn't die without asking for my hand, but what if…what if…what he really wanted wasn't just my hand?
BR
"Oh god no! Ivy…is that what I've made you think?!" Neville asked removing his hands from his face to wrap his arms around me. I didn't hug back, but allowed him to pull me close.
BR
"I guess not…you've never been like that. And you've never implied that was what you were hoping for." I whispered.
BR
"Of course not." Neville cuddled me a little before continuing; "And if you remember correctly," he whispered sweetly; "You were the one who suggested it."
BR
Turning my head up to him, I whispered back: 'What can I say, room of requirement, possible looming death…it makes you look at life slightly diffrently " Tilting Neville's head down, I gave him a kiss on the cheek, a subtle reminder of our earlier years.
BR
"We'll get through this." Neville told me: "We told Mrs. Weasley first for practice, and so she could make sure you were ok. It doesn't matter if she's angry, We can start planning the wedding anyway."
BR
"I'd like that…but I'd want Mrs. Weasley to help. I wonder if she'd be willing."
BR
"More than willing." Unbeknownst to us, Mrs. Weasley had been standing in the doorway for sometime. She was wiping tears away with her apron.
"Really?" I asked hopefully.
BR
"Yes." Mrs. Weasley said "I was in a situation much like this…last time You-Know-Who was back. The marriage will work, as long as you two are willing to take care of eachother…and the baby."
"We will." Neville Said and I nodded.
BR
"Well, Now that that's settled, who's going to write to Neville's Gran?" Mrs. Weasley asked, smiling a little bit.
BR
Neville and I exchanged looks of horror. Mrs. Weasley laughed, and before disappearing up the stairs she said.
"You two really do remind me of Arthur and I…"
