Title: A Few Degrees Colder

Pairings: Dazai x Chuuya

Rated: Gen

"Hey Chuuya?"

"..."

"...Still pouting like a child?"

"The hell Dazai? Want me to fuck up that shitty mouth of yours?"

"Hahaha…says the pot to the kettle."

Dazai leaned back wearily, exhausted as his eyes closed. There was no one alive in their vicinity now. They could finally rest. And there was no one else but Chuuya who could watch his back as he too leaned against him, panting hard, holding back the bloody vile that continued to threaten him.

"You're so fucking weak, I can't believe our leader actually trained you personally. You're the worst." Chuuya hissed, his head leaning completely back. Earlier he was too tired to argue but Dazai always brought out the worst in him. Literally, as they sat on top of a hill of corpses.

"I was able to disable your ability, give me a break." Never mind that Dazai almost died trying to stop Corruption several times during their partnership.

"Yeah well you nearly killed me."

"Isn't that unfortunate."

"Why you!" Chuuya quickly turned to punch Dazai but winced in pain. Too tired he slumped back, leaning against his said-partner for menial support. "I'm going to kill you once the sun comes up."

They pant in silence save for their harsh breath in the cold air, their heartbeat beating in unison; the only two still beating.

"Hey Chuuya."

"..."

"Hey Chu~"

"What?!"

"..." Dazai chuckled how predictable Chuuya always was. His little adorable fussy hissing cat who pretended to ignore him but was always unable to.

Dazai opened his eyes and smiled faintly as he looked up at the starless night sky above him. The same night sky that he once shared so often with his partner back many years ago. He could still hear their conversation, the ghostly memory whispering into his ear. It always started with the same, followed by spews of curses from him.

Dazai enjoyed those moments of pure hatred, accepting that passionate feeling like a lover's spat.

"Hey Chuuya."

Dazai spoke into the emptiness, knowing that this time, only the silence would answer back.

"Sometimes I wish you had left the Port Mafia with me." Dazai spoke to himself softly as he leaned forward. He turned around to see that he was alone, no one to support his back anymore.

The night sky felt just a few degrees colder tonight.
