"Home is where the heart is, but your heart needs to grow," Dean Winchester can still hear Catalina Queen's soft tones saying the words even though there is miles of tarmac between the two of them. The disappointment trickling into her dark blue eyes had been the hardest thing to accept, as they stood in their bedroom. He has never seen her look at him in that way before, even though he's well aware that he's done plenty to disappoint her over the years that they have known each other.

"You're kicking me out?" he couldn't help the flicker of hurt that raced into his voice. The prospect of leaving after the last eighteen months of happy suburban living, filled him with a queer mix of emotions. He glanced down at the happily gurgling baby he cradled in his arms and was surprised by the sharp jagged pain that struck his gut at the prospect of being a weekend dad to his little girl.

"I'm letting you do what you want to." She corrected "You don't want to be here anymore Dean,"

"Of course I do." He held tighter to his daughter, his fingers brushing against her fine dark hair. She grabbed hold of his finger with one little fist giggling "You…you both mean so much to me. You are my home,"

"We always will be." She touched her daughter's forehead, with gentle fingertips before letting the digits brush against his palm. "You know that Dean. But you aren't a construction worker. You're a hunter and you need to be out there with Sammy, doing what you do best,"

"This could be what I do best." He met her gaze, a hint of hope glimmering there that he couldn't suppress.

She sighed as she moved away, trying to gather herself enough to end that hope "I really hoped that that could have been true, but then I found something." She reached for the neatly folded jeans that sat on the end of the bed, and pulled out the faded motel receipt.
