Disclaimer; I do not own Harry Potter.

This is from the short story on Pottermore just my take on how Harry got his scar.

How Harry got his other scar

"I'm going to win!" James shouted, pushing his broom to go faster, his hair blowing in the wind. Albus was right behind but the real test was his father who was right behind Albus. But he wasn't fooled; his father would hold back till the last minute and then win.

James held his breath. Would today be the first time that he would win against his father?

A movement in the corner of his eye caused him to glance over. His father Harry Potter was leaning forward, practically against the broom handle. James gritted his teeth.

Harry gave a small smile. His son James was in the lead but Harry didn't let it bother him.

He quickly moved down a bit coming right underneath James. Risky move with all the trees and branches in the way, but he could dodge them easily. Then James came down right in front of him and Harry swerved quickly to not hit James. A branch loomed up in front of him and he was going to fast to stop or avoid it. He closed his eyes. "Ginny is so going to kill me."

"Ouch!" Harry flinched from Ginny's touch. She pursed her lips. "If you would just hold still it wouldn't hurt as much." She snapped.

Harry pouted, "But it hurts! And why can't you use your wand to heal it?"

Ginny raised an eyebrow, "Because I told you not to fly that low and said you would get hurt and you did it anyway! So that means you get to be healed the muggle way, and I hope it scars!"

Harry sighed giving in. He diddeserve it, he thought, but really he hadn't meant to hit the branch and if it did scar what would he tell the guys at the department? He would have to come up with something amazing like a cursed jinx or something that resisted healing.

"James stop hovering over me!" Ginny glared at James, who took a step back before biting his lip and saying for the hundredth time. "I'm sorry Dad, I didn't mean for you to get hurt."

Harry tried to smile but winced against the pain on his cheek, "It's fine son, my fault that it happened. I shouldn't have flown so low."

James looked more relaxed before smirking. "So what are you going to tell the guys?" Harry growled and swatted at him but was poked by Ginny who wasn't scowling anymore. She sniffed, "He better tell them the truth or I will. Serves him right." She got up ,still muttering, and started to put the medicine back in the cupboards.

Harry leaned back, "So if I remember correctly, nobody won the match right?" James shook his head, before glancing at the retreating back of his mother. Leaning in, he whispered, "Do you want a rematch?"

The two boys, yes, boys, got up and raced to the backyard. Both forgetting the lesson they were supposedto have learned.

But that's boys for you,Ginny thought before shouting out after them "I bet I can beat both of your sorry hides."
