Through the trees the birds would sing

That song, spreading it through the air,

Letting all know that the hardship was done.

Then through a forest of dark things

The song began to ring

A signal of safety for two

Then came the spear, cruel and unrelenting.

But the song did not die.

Though the singer will never again open her mouth

To utter that sweet, sweet tune

She will never be silenced.

The song rushes through the air still

A sign to all that there is still hope

Still beauty in the world.

And though the girl has long passed on

She lives forever in her song.
