In America's Closet
By: angel-feather-keeper
Deep in America's closet
Was a letter
Covered in dust it had been there
For years and years and years
He looked at it
Read it
Over and over
But when it came time to send it
It was too much
He stuffed it into his pocket
Smile fading away
Wanting nothing more than his Arthur
Oh so pure
To read that letter
Deep in America's closet
Was a gun
Covered in dust it had been there
For years and years and years
He looked at it
Touched it
Wanting it all to be
A dream or a nightmare
But when he tried to forget
It was too much
He set the gun down
Tears falling free
Wanting nothing more than his Arthur
Oh so kind
To stop this pain
Deep in America's heart
Was a truth
Covered with memories it had been there
For years and years and years
He felt it
Held it
Wanting nothing more
Than for it to be shared
But when he tried to speak
It was too much
He hid that truth again
Pain filling heart
Wanting nothing more than his Arthur
Oh so understanding
To hear the truth
Next to America now
Was a man
Smiling in happiness he had been there
For years and years and years
He felt him
Loved him
Wanting nothing more
Than for him to love back
And now that he is here
It's all right
He held that man close
Smile so bright
Wanting nothing more than his Arthur
Oh so loving
To stay by his side
