I've been havin' some weird dreams lately. They're almost like memories, but I know they happened differently. I can still remember as if they happened yesterday, an' yet these feel just as real. At first I thought it was because I was eatin' somethin' weird before bed. I told Hakkai about it, and he told me to stop eatin' before bed, but I can't do that. Otherwise I'll just wake up an' get a midnight snack. So I tried eatin' different foods before bed. Nothin' changed.

It starts out in the prison. I know it's my prison, I remember those seals, the heavy shackles weighin' down my ankles an' wrists, an' the loneliness. I can never forget that, watchin' the sun rise through the stone bars… time stood still for me, but life went on outside… lived an' died just like that bird.

I remember, I was sleepin' in the prison, tryin' to get away from the boredom an' loneliness. That's how my dream starts out. I fall asleep to wake up in my prison, like my own life now is just a dream. The sun's high in the sky, so I know it's been awhile since the day started.

There's rustlin' below the ledge. I know there's a forest down there. The smells of plants and wildlife sometimes would come through the bars. While my dream self thinks nothin' of it, I know that he's comin'. I know I keep thinkin' it's Sanzo, that's who I remember comin' to take me away, the only person that came up and set me free. I wanna look up, but my dream body doesn't, not until the shadow falls over me an' blocks out the sun. That's when I realize this isn't my memory.

Sanzo's hair isn't silver, and it isn't pulled back in a bun… save for the strands of hair that bounced up on his head. Plus his zit (call it a chakra, but it looks like a zit t'me) doesn't look like a zit, it's like a blue diamond. Sanzo wasn't a kid that looked about my age, either. Dream me wasn't aware of that, but I was. I started actin' like it had been Sanzo walkin' up to me though as I crawled towards the bars, lookin' up to him. I finally got a good look at his eyes then, and I remember… just like mine.

Gold like mine.

I felt somethin' pang in my chest, an' I realized my heart was poundin'. I didn' know why, but I was happy to see him… but I was sad too. I didn' know why I was sad, I didn' even know who he was, but somehow he was familiar… I couldn' grasp it though. I wanted to know what he would do now that he was here in Sanzo's place.

I was sittin' in front of the bars now, an' he was standin' right in front of me, lookin' down, at first serious… he almost seemed angry at me… but then his serious face broke into a smile, an' I felt happier. He felt like a friend, even if I didn' know who he was. Maybe he'd let me out?

Bendin' down, he was soon lookin' at me eye to eye. He was grinnin' at me, and I couldn' help but smile back at him. An' then suddenly he leaned forward an' I felt his lips pressin' against mine.

Now I know Sanzo never did THAT.

Pullin' back, he now had a bit of red in his cheeks, an' he was lookin' a little more serious now, even with the smile. "I'm sorry, Goku… we're gonna have to wait a lil' longer before we can play again. You'll see me soon enough, yeah?"

An' suddenly he was being taken away from me, outta my reach. I know, I was reachin' for him, callin' his name, wantin' him to come back, save me… anythin'…

Then I'd wake up.

I never could remember his name when I woke up, no matter how hard I tried.
