The Coffee Shop

"Hi, what can I get you?"

"Hello, how are you?"

"Well, thanks, what can I get you? A coffee, perhaps?"

No answer.

"Sir?"

"Oh! What? Sorry, I was daysleeping."

"You mean daydreaming."

"No, I mean sleeping. Like, I wasn't thinking about you, or anything."

The round faced girl behind the counter gave a slightly annoyed laugh. "Whatever you say, sir. Can I get you a coffee?"

"Actually my name is Percy."

"Okay?"

"Well, you see, you called me ʻsirʼ but my name is actually Percy. That's okay, though, I don't have a name tag like you so I can't expect you to have known that." He held out his hand to her. "Nice to me you, Audrey."

"You you're lucky there's not a queue," she said, "because if there was you'd be holding it up." But she shook his hand all the same.

"Oh, I'm sorry! Would you prefer me to go across the street to Starbucks or whatever the hell that muggle coffee shop is called."

"No, no! I'm happy to help you here, Percy. Shall I get you a coffee? What do you like in it?"

"Actually I'll have a tea, but no tea bag please."

"So you mean hot water?"

"No, I mean a tea with no bag."

"Right, hot water."

"Oh my! Aren't you bossy! First you told me I wanted coffee, now your telling me I want hot water!"

"ONE TEA WITH NO TEA BAG COMING RIGHT UP!"

Percy waited patiently as she flicked her wand at a kettle which pour steaming water into a cup. She handed it to him, green eyes on brown.

"Thank you. You're very pretty." She smiled at him with her arms crossed, raising her eyebrows.

"Well, enjoy," she said.

"Wait! Hold on! Here's a couple knuts. Keep the change."

"Hot wat- tea is free."

"Well, it can't be! It says right there, a knut fifty!" Percy pointed to the menu written in magical chalk behind her. She laughed.

"For you, love, it's free. Have a good day." She looked down at the cash register started writing something down. A rebel strand of hair fell forward into her eyes and she tucked it absently behind her ear.

"Audrey?" She looked up surprised to find that Percy was still there. "Would you like you go out with me tonight?"

She thought about it for a moment. "Sure."

"Okay, maybe another time, then," Percy said picking up it "tea" and starting to wander away.

"Percy, I said yes."

"Oh! Brilliant then!"
