Within the black forest is a village of elvin folk surrounded by the forest. This village did not go outside at night; for the forest is of wild creatures. No one dared to go out at night due to these creatures coming into the village every night.
So they only sent the sick into the forest to die. One day a nurse did the most horrible thing. When an infant girl was born, the nurse saw that they little girl was blind. She threw the infant into the woods then lie to her parents. Told them that the little girl died suddenly, and then she told the doctors the same thing. Later on she was found out and was banished to the same fate she gave the little girl.
The little girl cried and cried; the creatures of the forest went to see where the sound was coming from. Among the creatures was a guardian of the forest. She was a wolf/ human spirit. She picked up the infant and rocked her. "It is okay, I will adopt you. They should not have placed such a cutie into the forest." The infant giggled, her blind eyes were the color of lavender. "Wow! You poor thing; don't worry. I am going to be your mommy therefore you are still loved. I shall call you Lavender because of your eyes" said the wolf guardian.
The guardian then took the young girl to the elementals that live deeper in the forest. When they saw baby Lavender, they could not help but crowd around her. "Aww, what a cutie" said the water elemental. "We should age her to eleven years old" said the earth elemental. "I agree she should stay cute and that age would be perfect" said the air elemental. So together the elementals gathered around Lavender and said:
"As the elementals of air, water and earth; we give you the eternal age of eleven. Young Lavender let your new age behold and your new talent no longer be untold."
Little Lavender grew to the age of eleven, but she was still blind. The elements told her that they could age her and speed up her talent development but her eye sight could not be changed. She said "all I need is you, my family and the music." The elementals then found out that her talent was music so the earth elemental forged a wooden flute. Then the air elemental tested the flute's notes. They were perfectly tuned.
While they all listened, the earth began to quake. "Earthina, stop it will you" "I am not doing this Aira." "GUYS!" "What is it Aqua?" said both Earthina the earth elemental and Aira the air elemental. "It is him again! He is at unrest again, and we are not at our full strength to handle him. However…" said Aqua the water elemental. Aqua then looked at Lavender, "What, me? How can I do that?" said Lavender. "Your music will be able to sooth him. The flute has a bit of the each of us. Good luck guardian of the meadow" said Earthina.
Lavender nodded and then ran for the meadow. She knew where it was, all she had to do is to follow the quakes. The stronger the quakes got, the closer she was to the meadow. When she got to the meadow, she started to play her flute. With note each note played, the quakes weakened, and then stopped all together. "So my music soothes what beast?" said Lavender. A fox ran up beside her, with its help she was able to find the bolder in the middle of the meadow. The bolder was the shape of a dragon's head.
"This is what the elementals referred to" said Lavender. "Elementals if you can hear me, I promise to come over here and play a song everyday. I'll call it Nature's song."
A song with the meadow breeze accompanying, it was peaceful music. This was Nature's song.
