Jace had to leave. He just couldn't do it anymore. Something snapped. He ran. As far as he could think of or maybe blindly I'll never know for sure but he ended up in Georgia. Savannah, GA to be exact. He tried on a brand new name Dominic Slate. He bought a house and started into a new life. A very average life... Or at least until he realized he was being watched. He thinks we followed him but in fact he found us. Somehow he was looking whether he knew it or not. And we have been watching, waiting and tonight we strike.

A letter came for me today. A very scary letter indeed. Not for its contents which to most would be considered horrific but for me it was the envelope. It was addressed Jace Wayward. Not Dominic Slate. My real name brought back memories. Horrible memories. I can't kill, not anymore. I can't deal with down worlders. I have to move on, to not remember those who raised me killing a child simply because she was infected. Because she had to kill. The contents were equally horrific. The wispy handwriting read.
I fight a fair fight Wayward. Prepare yourself.
Beneath was the rune for fearless. Lilly. No, it's simply not possible. She was bitten. She was the memory I had to escape. And now she is back.
