"Spock? What's this?" Jim asked, carefully backing out of his quarters, feeling his back press against the other man's chest as he door began to slide closed. His forearm, wrapped in the customary gold sweater, was raised to cover his mouth and nose as he turned to his T'hy'la.
"I was under the impression that flowers were a customary gift on St. Valentine's Day. Was I wrong in my assumption?" he asked, his brow creasing.
"Oh," Jim said dimly. He hadn't even realized what day it was. That explained some of the behaviour he'd seen. He'd almost forgotten about the holiday... well, actually, he had forgotten about it--Spock reminded him. When you were logging everything in star dates, it was easy to lose track of the Terran date.
"Well.... yes, it is customary, but.... I'm allergic to marigolds. The pollen irritates my airways and makes them swell up," he said.
"I see," Spock said, looking between Jim and the door, which blocked the view of the large vase full of marigolds Spock had set on Jim's table, next to the chess board, which they had been meaning to utilize. "I apologize, T'hy'la... I will have to take them away and clean all the pollen."
Jim shook his head with a sigh. "You can do it later... I didn't really want to play chess right now, anyway. Let's go to your room.... there's a present for you in there," he said, mischievous grin spreading across his features as he admitted to having a similar idea to Spock's.
Spock arched an eyebrow but followed the other man down the hall, to his own quarters. Upon entering, he found a box of chocolates, and a container of chocolate frosting. He turned to his T'hy'la raising his eyebrows expectantly, in a way that Jim often claimed to appear as suggestive.
The door closed behind them and they did not emerge again until well after dinner time.

A/N: So, just some cute fluff. I decided that, to make up for not updating "Observations" for so long (it's been over a month!!) I'd give you guys a cute, fluffy little one-shot, conveniently written on an appropriate holiday. I hope you enjoy it, and are happy to hear that I'm currently working on the next chapter of "Observations" and I hope to post it either tonight or tomorrow.
