Kairi, an orphan that seeks to run away from an abusive foster family, finally has had enough after she was thrown outside into the blistering cold one night. When she makes her escape, she unknowingly stumbles upon a infamous thief named Sora. After realizing his identity, she threatens to turn him in. Surprisingly he was frightened that she was might actually do so given the situation that they were in, so he tries to play his cards right as he proposes to make a deal with her. He stated that there is a far away land that all can escape to in order to get away from their troubled lives called the Sanctuary. He said that he will guide her there personally, him also wanting to escape from his troubles. In return she must not give away his identity to any authority figure on their journey. Kairi agrees to this knowing she has nowhere left to go and nothing to lose. The two embark on their long quest to reach freedom, but at some point in time they realize they have no idea where they were headed. Along their cross country adventure, they encounter two odd characters named Marluxia and Zack. One a cross dressing assassin and the other a short tempered military patrol guard. Will this odd group of people find their way to the ancient fairy tale land of the Sanctuary through the Kingdom of Hearts? Or will they give each other away in an attempt to be the hero in this romantic action packed comedy?
