Of Poems

A/N. Thanks to those who reviewed my first fic. YOU GUYS ROCK! And special thanks to

-EHWIES for all the feedback! Anywho...I DO NOT OWN TEEN TITANS! I do however, own the poem in this fic. Yesh...indeed I do...

And so it begins...

Raven almost had the entire Tower to herself. Robin and Starfire were at the grocery store, and Cyborg was out in Steel City. That left her with Beastboy, who was being strangely reclusive today. She was taking advantage of this peace, and was sitting at the kitchen table, drinking her tea and working on her poetry. Raven wrote poetry because it was a safe outlet for her emotions, and was rather fun, too. She had just put the finishing touch on one, when she heard noises coming form within the Tower. Great, Raven thought, and I was having a really good day. I really don't want to put up with the grass stain. In her rush to get out of there before Beastboy came walking in, she accidently left her poem on the table.

Beastboy came strolling into the kitchen just as he saw Raven's cape leave out of another door. Just as well, he thought, she's been pretty moody lately. Beastboy went to fridge and pulled out some tofu. Grabbing a fork out of a drawer, he sat down at the table, and began to eat. Halfway through his first bite, Beastboy saw Raven's poem lying on the opposite end of him. After reaching across the table to grab it, he begin to read.

The Warm Embrace of Pain

My flesh is warm,

The knife is cold.

My hand is shaking now.

I press the blade,

Into my wrist.

My warm blood,

And the cold steel,

Fuck as the blade goes deeper.

I bite my lip,

Blood trickles down my face,

As I take the knife out,

I wonder,

Why am I doing this?

Then I remember.

The years of my life.

Not accepted.

Made fun of.

Never doing anything,

And always getting the blame.

Never seeming to be good enough.

Suppressed feelings.

I press the blade into the other wrist.

Beastboy's fork dropped in mid-bite. He took the paper, got up, and ran to Raven's room. Beastboy knocked on her door, didn't wait for an answer, and barged right in. The commotion he made caused Raven to drop out of her meditation position and onto the floor. Beasboy pulled her up with surprising strength, and took off her gloves, checking her wrists. Seeing that they were clean and unscarred, he pulled Raven into a deep and warm embrace.

"Don't ever make me worry about like that again, Rae." Beastboy said through clenched teeth. "Never do that again." And they stood like that for what seemed to be an eternity.

So that's the end! What'd think? As always, raves, flames, and advice are heavily welcomed. One thing though. DO NOT CRITICIZE MY POETRY! My poems are my babies, and you don't mess with them. I'm glad we could come to an agreement on that..
