Emma's alarm clock went off at three fifteen on the morning of Henry's birthday. Emma rolled over and turned the annoying alarm off before got up and sunk downstairs to the kitchen. Emma made herself a cup of hot chocolate with cinnamon and opened a small bakery box that had a single candle in it.

"Mom what are you doing up?" Henry asked sleepily as he walked over to his mother.

"I could ask you the same thing birthday boy." Emma replied with a smile she couldn't hide.

Henry shrugged as he sat on one of the stools next to his mother. "I always wake up at this time on my birthday." He said as he rubbed the sleep out of his eyes. "What are you doing up?"

"Every year I would buy a cupcake the day before your birthday so I could light it at the time you were born." Emma said as she watched the clock putting a blue star candle in the middle of the cupcake.

"Is that why you bought the cupcake yesterday?" He asked.

"Old habits die hard. This is the first year I get to spend it with you, but I still wanted to celebrate it the way I used to." She said as she lit the candle.

"What time was I born?" He asked with a yawn.

Emma smiled as the time on the clock turned to three thirty. "Right now," She smiled. "Happy birthday kid." She said as she blows the candle out.

"Can I have half of the cupcake?" He asked with a sheepish grin.

"Half and then back to bed." She said as she split the cupcake for the two of them.

"I'm glad I get to spend my birthday with you." He said as he finished the cupcake.

"Me too, now back to bed I don't need Regina yelling at me for you being tired for your party with the family." She said pushing him in the direction of his room.

"Love you mom." He said as he gave her a hug before disappearing into his room.

"Love you too kid." She said as she returned to her own bed.
