"Fine then!" Sirius Black shouted angrily, "Why don't I just leave then?"
He was standing up, chair pushed onto the floor, dinner discarded on the table. Walburga and Orion Black, his parents, were both just calmly sitting at the table in front of him. These fights were common in this household. Sirius stormed up to his room and slammed the door shut. Oh how he hated his family! He hastily threw a few t-shirts in a bag and flung it over his shoulder. He picked up his wand, and looked around the room. He would come back for his trunk later.
As he was looking around the room again for anything he absolutely needed, the door opened. And in walked Regulas Arcturas Black.
"Sirius, are you really going to leave?" he demanded.
"You heard it all,' Sirius shot back, "Figure it out yourself would you?"
"Sirius! They may hate you - " Regulas started
"Way to rub it in my face, Slytherin!" Sirius interrupted.
"Hey, just hear me out kay?" said Regulas, "I don't hate you though, you know that right?"
Sirius grunted in understandment, but kept his head down. Regulas took this as a good sign and continued, So Siri, if you ever need a place to stay. I'm... Uhm... I'm here for you,"
Sirius' head suddenly snapped up, "But you - you - you're a d - death eater!"
"No, Sirius, i'm not a death eater. I'm just your brother. And I care about you! Please just stay?" Regulas said, his back facing Sirius.
"Reg... I can't be so sure that you're not a death eater, can I? I can't stay Reg. I - I can't..." Sirius said softly
Regulas hugged Sirius, then left the room without saying a word.
Sirius sighed, then walked out the room and went downstairs. "Goodbye." he said to no one in particular. But as he walked out the door, into the pouring rain, he heard Kreacher the house elf reply "Goodbye Master Sirius."
So in the summer before fifth year for the Marauders, fifteen year old James Potter, opened the door to find his best friend and should-be-brother, standing drenched in the rain with nothing but a bag and his wand. "Got any spare room mate?" Sirius asked, smirking. James grinned, "Always."
