Christmas and the Uninvited Dinner guests:
The night had been going perfectly, I had bought the perfect wine, closed the bar early and had one of the back rooms, which Yata always seem to dub the Dining room, set up for tonight, including the expensive white wine, one I knew he would love. Though finding out he loved it was a surprise I love the look he gets when I buy it.
I even let him cook the meal much to his excitement.
It was perfect, until the uninvited guests came in.
Mikoto use to laugh when we had these nights the first time, but he too would leave the residence with Anna in tow, it was his way of give us his blessing I think. When Fushimi first heard of them he was confused and downright angry at me. Though he got over it quickly he liked the smile on Yata's face, even when he's gone to the blues he makes sure that Seri and the others stay away from here on these nights, I remember Seri grumbling about that a few times.
Even though it happens once a month the others still hadn't figured any of it out. And with Mikoto gone, Anna didn't have anyone to take her out as a distraction, but she wasn't unwanted, no she was invited to join us, she was even helping Yata cook.
Everyone else in HOMRA who were eating all the food drinking all the booze, and being rowdy, they were uninvited.
Two months before Tatara died, I had asked Tatara, Mikoto, and Anna if I could marry that boy, but I never got a chance to ask him, and tonight, the night I was going to, was ruined.
But it didn't matter if there were unwanted guests or that the food was all gone. Yata was grinning from ear to ear carrying Anna, their king around on his shoulders. He looked so at peace and so happy, that even if the perfect night I had planned was ruined. This was better.
Hell, almost the entire room was silent when I asked him. And Yata slowly removed Anna from his shoulders giving me no sign before dropping down in front of me hugging me whispering yes over and over again in my ear from where I knelt.
No tonight wasn't planned perfect, it just was. And the unwanted guests made it all the better.
Mom, dad, HOMRA is home, and Yata said yes, and with Christmas around the corner nothing is better than being home.
Merry Christmas, I'm sorry I'm never there anymore, I hope your doing well and happy. We're having Christmas dinner on December 24th, at HOMRA, if you want to come that would be great. I know the guys can be loud and a bit rowdy, but it would be nice to see you.
Your son,
~Kusanagi Izumo
