"Any Other Way"
Bill McNab smiled as he gazed out onto the baseball field. He was watching his son, Taylor, play his first game.
Even though Bill had experienced reservations before his son was born, after some divine intervention, all of his doubts and fears were gone.
As Bill watched Tayler hit the ball before running to third base, he smiled. He couldn't imagine loving someone any more than he loved his little boy. He knew his wife, Joanne, felt the same way.
Even though Taylor had Down syndrome, Joanne and Bill tried to treat him as normally as possible. They had found a baseball team he could join that was specifically geared towards kids with DS. The team also allowed other kids to join as well, so they could interact with one another.
After a few practices, Taylor seemed to fit in just fine. He even started making some friends.
As Bill cheered his son on, Taylor turned around and gave his Dad a winning smile.
This gesture of affection melted Bill's heart. He knew now that Tess was right. It didn't matter that Taylor had Down syndrome. What mattered was where he came from and that Bill and Joanne loved him with all their heart and soul.
And as he sat there, watching his son have fun, Bill realized that he wouldn't have Taylor any other way.
A grin spread across Bill's face as he watched Taylor run to join some of his friends on the other side of the field.
"That's my boy." He said, smiling at the interaction between Taylor rand his friend, Ryan. "That's my boy."
