* Alright. So I've been having some trouble with "code-throw-up" but should be fine now. Just some missing parts from "Proof" one of my favorite episodes. More to come!

"You couldn't, or you wouldn't?" Reid asked, a bite in his tone.

"No. I couldn't." JJ retorted just as quickly.

"What if I had started taking Dilaudid again, would you have let me?" He asked, his words leaving his mouth before he completely thought them through. He didn't care though, with every word he felt lighter.

She was taken aback but kept her solid ground. "You didn't." She said although it felt more like a question.

"No but I thought about it." He turned away, wanting more than anything to just get back to work.

"Spence, I'm sorry!" JJ confessed, unshed tears already formed in her eyes.

He threw his hands out in frustration. "It's too late, alright!" He could feel his team's eyes on him as he left the main part of the police station but he didn't care. He didn't care that Prentiss was calling after him or that he had just revealed a very private part of himself. He did care about the two dead young women who were robbed of their eyesight, however. But he needed to cool off. He took the files he had found and walked straight through the front doors of the office to find a nice and tranquil spot to focus.

...

"Reid?" Prentiss called after their resident boy genius when he had stormed off from JJ. The rest of the team's eyes followed him out of view and then turned back towards a bereft JJ, who let out a deep sigh. She felt older than she really was. Nothing felt right when there were problems among the team, the family.

JJ slowly walked towards the rest of her team, hoping she could draw comfort from the rest of her family. They took a moment to remain silent, all thinking of Reid and the confession they had overheard.

Emily spoke up again. "Should we go after him?"

"No." Hotch's steady voice replied, grounding the team. "Let him be alone, for now."

"Why don't we get back to the profile, let our genius fly solo until he comes up with something." Rossi piped up, trying to move them away from the emotional to the professional.

And Rossi was right. After just a short while, their youngest did in fact have a breakthrough.

*Next chapter to arrive soon. Until next time.
