April sat in the turtle's cave, her head in her hands. Why? Why hadn't she let him kiss her? Casey was a cool guy, and the only somewhat normal thing in her all too crazy existence. He made her laugh, which was good, or at least that's what every sappy love story said was good. So why, as his lips inched closer to hers, had she pulled away? She had felt a feeling of guilt, the strong sense of betrayal, but she didn't know why. She wasn't dating anyone. The only person she had any sort of romantic interaction with was...
Suddenly, she felt a large three-fingered hand set itself down on her shoulder.
"April! Are you ok?" and anxious sounding voice asked. She looked up to see Donatello looking back at her, trying to analyze what may be wrong. She looked down at her hands now placed in her lap and sighed.
"Casey tried to kiss me," she answered.
"What?" Donatello whimpered. His facial expression then swiftly changed from that of complete shock and heartbreak to that of anger. "I swear he's going to wish he'd never been-"
"I didn't kiss him back." she said blankly.
"wha-what?!" Donatello responded, both confused and hopeful. "But why?"
"I don't know. I just felt really really guilty and told him to stop, then I ran here," she responded, looking back up at Donatello.
"But why wouldn't you kiss him?" He further pried, thinking of all possible reasons why she refuse the hokey playing teen. He went through answer after answer, none of them quite fitting.
"Because... I think I have feelings for someone else."
"What? Who? I haven't seen you with anyone lately at school..." he wondered, half to himself. April chuckled."You watch me at school?" she asked, continuing to giggle. "Wow you've got it bad!"
"You know!?" Donnie said, looking as though he'd been shocked by lightning.
"Donnie, I'd have to be blind and deaf to miss it," she responded. "You may be a ninja, but you aren't sneaky when it comes to flirting Mr. Flow Chart."
Dread filled Donnie's face and April smiled. Now she knew why she felt guilty. Everything she wanted, everything she needed, she already had. She didn't need Casey. He was a good friend, but she already had someone she cared for and by ignoring that she had betrayed her own feelings. That's why she had felt guilty. She already like someone. She liked Donatello, Donnie, her best friend.
"But... who do you like?" He asked, still somewhat shell-shocked from the experience of discovering the girl he loved for so long knew the whole time.
A blush crept to April's face. But despite her anxieties, she decided she'd face this head on.
"Donnie...its you."
Before he could control himself, Donnie grabbed April's face as gently as he could and pressed his lips to hers. Her eyes widened in shock but then slowly closed in acceptance.
This is where I belong. She thought.
"Well it's about time!"
"Mikey!"
"OUCH! Raaaph!"
The pair turned to see Raphael holding Michelangelo in a headlock and Leonardo with his forehead in his palm.
"Aaaand of course my brothers would ruin the biggest moment in my life!" Donatello yelled, lunging himself after his brothers, chasing them around the lair.
April smiled and murmured to herself,"What have I gotten into?"
