Within the world of Gensokyo existed many youkai, some attacked humans regularly, some are fairys, and some have power bending reality itself. However, there was a young woman, a shrine maiden who battled these entites in a system they all seemed to follow for no reason. The Spellcard system which would force youkai to limit their power, and follow a set of rules.
The shrine maiden, Reimu had been resting peacefully recently, nothing absurd had happened recently... although it would inevitible that it would happen again. It had been too long since the last incident. As she sat drinking a cup of tea, she surveyed her immediate area. It had even been a while since Marisa had shown up. Infact it had been far too quiet. As she stood up, she took a glance at her donation box, although she had sat here the entire time since the last time she looked. Of course it was empty, though she acted surprised.
As she began to enter the shrine, it would be the call of an all too familiar voice that would halt her. She turned around to face her, the youkai of boundaries. Half her body sticking from a gap in the reality. "What is it that you want, Yukari...?" She sighed... nothing good ever came with her appearance. She held her staff out, as though she expected some sort of battle to come out of nowhere, though she actually knew that wouldn't be the case. "Hmnhmn... there's a new incident going on... shouldn't you be checking it out?"
"I'm sure I'll hear it from a more reliable source later, if that's true." Reimu stated, and began to walk away.
"What if those other sources are unable to come?" Yukari said with a grin.
Reimu sighed again, turning to face Yukari once more. "What's going on?"
"Some youkai have been messing around... though they aren't your typical youkai. They are probably some of the most powerful youkai that have been active in Gensokyo in some time... and there's an issue. They don't seem to be following the rules of the spellcard system." Yukari answered, her grin still showing, though she was a bit worried as well... though she could probably handle the situation, she wasn't entirely sure if it was her place. It was the job of the shrine maiden to enforce the spellcard's rules.
Reimu seemed shocked, and a bit scared, though it washed over. She was angry, and a annoyed as per normal. "... This hasn't actually happened before ... how can I stop them?"
"Well, shouldn't you go exteriminate them, Reimu?"
"But... how can I exteriminate them? ... do I disobey the spellcards rules, too?"
"That doesn't seem like it would be showing proper respect for the law. Noone is above the law, Reimu ... " She said with a grin.
Reimu wasn't entirely sure how to go about this. She would have no choice but to deal with it herself... or atleast with whoever was currently there. Yukari seemed to not be willing to help, from what she had gathered... though it wasn't her place to.
Reimu began to fly off in search of clues as to their location. She wouldn't ask for any more help from Yukari, she'd handle it herself.
