"The idea of "sides" in this "Holy" war is an illusion! There is no "good" or "evil", no "light" versus "dark"..."

Kanda has never thought of the war as that black and white.

He's never understood these concepts of the "Light" versus the "Dark".

He has seen the alleged "Light", and he hates it.

To him, Light is his bane; the reason he exists in the first place.

To him, the Light is desperation.

It means doing anything, ANYTHING it takes, as long as it results in saving humanity.

"Anything" is scrambled memories of a lost love and crying while strapped to a table in a strange lab.

"Anything" is killing the only friend he's ever had.

"Anything" is the illusion of the lotus, to remind him that it was the supposed "Light" that brought him to this point.

A reminder that they did this, that their "kindness" is but an illusion.

"Anything" is watching people die, everyday, everyday, everyday, and knowing he himself cannot (and will forever wish that he could.)

"Anything" is him being ripped from his grave and ordered to hunt again.

Ordered to risk his life for people that see him as no more than a pawn, in a game that they are losing.

Ordered to fight.

Order is chaos.

Chaos is dark.

Dark is the demons the Earl has created to continue his crazed slaughter.

Light is the failed experiments the Order has created to "save" humanity.

"Dark" is manipulating humans to reach their own ends.

"Light" is manipulating humans to reach their own ends.

"Light" is "Dark".

He doesn't see the difference.

"There is only pointless bloodshed, and us lone soldiers fighting in a world enveloped in Gray."

Author's note: This is a little poem-thing that I wrote yesterday because of...reasons. Ya. Timeline-wise, I would put this anywhere before the Alma-arc. I dunno, I just really like the idea of Kanda not really taking sides in the war. He's just doing his "duty" and not getting involved emotionally. Anyway, I hope you liked it.
