Title : Lack of luck
Summary : Timothy McGee is not the lyckiest guy on Earth, is conscious of it, and will proove it, once more...
Pairing : None
Disclaimer : Not mine, etc
Rating : K+, but really to be safe.
Note : The meaning, or most likely the ethymology meaning I gave to the « Probie » thing, is probably totally wrong.... but I found that afterwards, and decided to still share that with you, to see whereas it can at least make someone smile. Thanks to the first person who smiled at it : my beta Suallenparker! Just one little thing to add : I had this idea while staring at a macaroni gratin nearly ready... don't ask me why, I'm still wondering^^
There was this thing called luck. Timothy McGee was the kind of guy who suffered of a lack of it. Someone was walking with coffee in his hand? McGee spills it! Someone saw him always typing on his keyboard? It was glued. Someone had read his book? He got nearly killed by the driving habits of this someone.
This lack of luck spread even in autopsy, even if he wasn't the most unlucky person around. He often got slapped on the back of his head for something he didn't do, or, such as what was happening right now, get caught by the legist, who had found, again, another « interesting » story to tell him.
« My dear Timothy, it's good to have you down there, I miss you all, specially in days like today, when I have no one to take care of. »
Ow, for sure, Timothy was really lucky! It was going to be a looooooooong day!
« Have you ever thought back wherefrom your « Probie » nickname came, Timothy?
-Errr, for sure, not. But i'm still a newbie around, Ducky, it's... probably because of that.
-I'm not talking about the reason why everybody is calling you that way, it's obvious, even Gibbs is still called Probie by Mike Franks.... But have you ever search were the word came from? »
There was a quiet silence, then another, and, after a while, the young
agent simply answered « No »
« Have you ever heard of the german verb : « probieren » before?
-For sure, it was one of my language back at... school, even if I can't remember in what class we had this...
-It means try... in some way, you're still « tried out» by the rest of your team... The question is : are you to be on trial, or is this a nickname without a meaning....
-In your context, Gibbs will still have to give us some prooves, it's, quite.... I don't know, quite disturbing, isn't it. »
« What's disturbing , McGee.... »
Ow, no, Gibbs didn't need to proove anything to anyone, but McGee really had
to look behind him, as long as he was still « the » Probie inline... Another slap and his life continued...without any more luck... He might have spoilt a lucky charm, after all. Or Tony gave back his bad karma, contrarily to what Kate thought...
