Author's Note : This is the first chapter and firsts always suck. I know the beginning is boring, explaining what we have all seen in the episodes but hey, there's a beginning for everything ! I won't always follow the script so it doesn't get boring, so there's no need to worry ! I look forward to write for all of you !

Disclaimer : I don't own Avatar or any character besides Ana !

There was two young teens in a canoe. The boy, shaven headed except for a pony-tail and the girl with dark brown hair. The canoe drifted slowly as they tried to find food in the laden waters. Snow, ice and icy waters surrounds them. Suddenly the boat is bumped, they look up to see they have entered an ice packed area. They begin to work frantically to maneuver the canoe between the icebergs. The two young kids try desperately to avoid getting crushed between the colliding icebergs, but they soon realize it's impossible. The canoe is finally crushed when three icebergs collide at once, both of them jumping onto the ice on time.

" You call that left ? " said the girl with the big blue eyes.
" You don't like my steering. Well, maybe you should have waterbended us out of the ice. " replied the boy.
" So it's my fault ? "
" I knew I should have left you home. Leave it to a girl to screw things up. "

Katara, the young girl's name could feel her anger boiling over. She stars screaming things at her brother, she couldn't not believe she was related to the boy, Sokka. He didn't know what he was talking about. From Katara's point of view, since their mother died, she's been doing all the work while he's been off playing soldier. She keeps screaming, getting really worked up about their small fight nut her brother isn't listening, he has noticed the cracking iceberg. He tries to get his sister's attention but fails miserably.

" I even wash all the clothes! Have you ever smelled your dirty socks? Let me tell you, not pleasant ! "

As she finishes her shouting, the iceberg behind her splits open entirely. Sokka stares at his sister thinking she did it, but he doesn't have time to think about it because the water in front of them begins to glow. They take steps back as another iceberg breaks the surface. Katara notices something in it, and she moves to the edge of the iceberg to try and get a better look. She gasps at what she sees, deep in the ice, there's a boy with white arrows on his fists and on his bald head. She steps back when his eyes and arrows start glowing white.

Not far from there, an iron battleship is cutting through the sea. A bright blue light shoots at the sky not far away. There's a young man on the foredeck dressed in red, is head shaven except for a jet black pony-tail, his face illuminated by the bright light. His golden eyes staring intently at the light, his left eye badly scarred. He turns around and stares at his uncle, an old man with grey hair seated at a low table, drinking tea and playing Pai Sho.

" Finally. Uncle, do you realize what this means ? "
" I won't ge to finish my game ? "

There's another tiny girl with them with black long hair, pale skin and golden eyes, pretty much like anyone else from the Fire Nation. She's listening to the conversation but not really paying attention. After two years at sea, fruitlessly searching the Avatar, someone who has been missing for over 100 years, attention is not at it's peak. Annoyed, she approached both of them.

" Or it's just the celestial lights. We've been down this road before, Prince Zuko. I don't want you to get too excited over nothing. Please, sit. Why don't you enjoy a cup of calming jasmine tea ? Do you want some tea Ana ? "

The young boy is furious, his patience running low, his anger exploding. Turning around to his crew, he shouts at his uncle,

" I don't need any calming tea ! I need to capture the Avatar. Helmsman, head a course for the light ! "
" Here we go again hunting someone who doesn't exist, having a tantrum from Princess here, everyday, all the time. " says Ana. " But I'd love some tea Iroh. "
" Now Ana don't go saying such things, it is rude. "
" I'm stating the truth. We've been down this road before, there's nothing to get exited for. "

The old man laughs at the comment while serving her some tea. Zuko ignores them knowing that this time he's right. The Avatar isn't far away. He's finally going home and nobody's going to stop him. After long years, he'll have his honor and love of his father back.

The boy seems to pass out as soon as the light stops. Katara runs forward and catches him as he falls. Her brother keeps poking at the young boy's head with his spear. Slowly, he opens his eyes and stares at the two young teens in front of him. He looks weak and tired. He takes a deep breath and stares at Katara.

" I need to ask you something " he whispers in a sweet weak voice.
" What ? " says Katara.
" Please .. come closer. " he whispers.
" What is it ? "
" Will you go penguin sledding with me ? " He says in a now normal and even excited voice.

Ana watches as Zuko blasts fire from his hands at the guards, but misses. The guards attack him but he dodges, back flipping over to land behind them. Iroh sighs and gets up.

" No! Power in firebending comes from the breath. Not the muscles. The breath becomes energy in the body. The energy extends past your limbs and becomes fire. Get it right this time. "
" Yeah princess, get it right this time. "
" Don't call me that ! " he angrily shouts at the girl. " Enough. I've been drilling this sequence all day. Teach me the next set. I'm more than ready.
" Impatient brat. " she says, earning a deadly glare from the Prince.
" She's right Prince Zuko. You have yet to master your basics. "
" The sages tell us that the Avatar is the last airbender. He must be over a hundred years old by now. He's had a century to master the four elements. I'll need more than basic firebending to defeat him. You will teach me the advanced set ! "
" Very well. But first I must finish my roast duck. "

The young girl smiles at Iroh who begins eating happily. On the other hand, Zuko is fuming, but when wasn't him ?

Katara and Aang climb up and enter the Fire Nation ship through a gaping hole, walking around the dark corridors with many darkened rooms. She's afraid, carefully making sure she doesn't step in any trapt. On the other hand, Aang isn't scared at all. He's having fun. She knew it would be rude to ask, but she had to.

" Aang, how long were you in that iceberg ? "
" I don't know .. a few days, maybe ? "
" I think it was more like a hundred years ! "
" What ? That's impossible. Do I look like a hundred-twelve year old man to you ? "
" Think about it. The war is a century old. You don't know about it because, somehow, you were in there that whole time. It's the only explanation. "

Aang, stunned by the realization, sinks to the floor, is hand on his head. He couldn't believe it. The only bright side was meeting Katara. She helped in back to his feet and they start walking away, the place being too creepy. Not paying attention, Aang's foot drags a trip wire on the floor, blocking the door by a grate that drops from the ceiling. They're trapped. A bright flare explodes out of the Fire Navy ship and into the sky.

" What's that you said about booby traps ? "

Not far from there, Zuko is looking through his telescope to see Aang and Katara running across the ice, away from the ship. Ana takes the telescope from him to see by herself, only to be shocked by what she sees. Not believing her eyes, she slowly turns around to face Zuko, who has a smirk on his face.

" The last airbender, this can't be .. " she says in a whisper.

" Quite agile for his old age. Wake my uncle ! Tell him I found the Avatar as well as his hiding place. "

Things kick up on the next chapter my loves, keep reading ! Chapters are going to be longer than this !
