Disclaimer: I do not own A Cinderella Story.

A/N: My first attempt at A Cinderella Story fic...kinda inspired by the lack of ACS fic (seriously...there's a reason the section is called A Cinderella Story not "Jonas Brothers"). This is slash, so don't read if you don't like.

Nothing

Carter sighed and leaned against the wall, surveying the rather rowdy party goers around him. Sam and Austin had disappeared a few minutes earlier, verifying Carter's suspicions that he wouldn't know anyone at the party. Of course, Sam had convinced him to come by assuring him that she and Austin would be there so he would know people…but she hadn't covered what he should do if they moseyed off for a make-out session halfway through.

"Yo, is the bathroom through there?" someone shouted in Carter's ear. He cringed away from the sound and shrugged.

"No idea," he called back to the person, not daring to look for fear they'd decided that the hallway was close enough to the bathroom.

He slipped into the crowd, maneuvering as best he could through the mass of people, trying to find the door.

"Carter!" a voice called out, and Carter reluctantly turned back to find Austin weaving towards him. "Hey, man, have you seen Sam?" he asked when he'd reached Carter's side, placing a heavy hand on Carter's shoulder and leaning in close to him to ensure the other boy would hear.

"No," Carter said, shaking his head. "Not since she disappeared with you." Austin nodded and stepped even closer to Carter, stumbling a little though he'd taken only one step. "You all right?" Carter asked.

Austin nodded. "Just a little tipsy," he shouted. "You sure you don't know where Sam is."

"I'm sure," Carter replied. "But if you see her-" Carter never got to finish. After a barely audible "good" slipped from Austin's lips, the other boy leaned down and pressed his lips to Carter's in a sloppy, drunken kiss.

After the initial shock passed, Carter pushed Austin away, wiping at his lips and staring at his best friend's boyfriend in disgust. Austin looked unfazed, and Carter decided it best to pretend nothing had happened.

"Tell Sam I went home, okay?" he said. He didn't wait for Austin's response but made his way to the door as quickly as he could, breathing deeply when he finally stepped out into the clear night air. Nothing happened, he told himself over and over. I just imagined it.

But then he started wondering why he would imagine it, and Carter Farrell didn't really want to go there.
