Hey guys, I hope you are all doing well. Here's a Coda one-shot on Abhijeet & Daya from the recent episode: Abhijeet Trapped. It's general OS but if you squint then it could be slash too, personally I don't mind having both. ;) Enjoy!

Scolding Session||Abhijeet & Daya

"Bhai saab, mera number wohi hai. Maine number badla nahi hai. Mujhe aik phone kar sakte thay tum." Daya doesn't wait for a second before he starts scolding his dear friend over his carelessness. Abhijeet really doesn't know how to respond to an angry Daya so he look anywhere but at him and keeps his mouth shut and lets Daya rant out.

"Tumhe agar kuch hojata toh?" He worries, a lot. It's so obvious. Abhijeet doesn't need to hear them aloud because he clearly gets the message that what would have happened to him if something had happened to Abhijeet.

"Sab log kitne pareshaan thay tumhari wajah se, kuch maloom hai? ACP saab pooch rahe hain sab log phone kar rahe hain. Ho kya gaya hai tumhe?" Guilt starts to take over Abhijeet who is busy avoiding his gaze meeting with the other CID officer.

"Oh! Main aapse baat kar raha hon." Daya finishes scolding Abhijeet when he realizes that other man hasn't even lifted his eyes at him let alone uttering a word to him. Finally, Abhijeet turns and looks at his partner. As soon their eyes meet Daya notices that something is not right, Abhijeet is looking at him with uncertain expressions like he doesn't recognise Daya.

"Aap kon?" Before Daya could brace himself, the question is thrown carelessly at him that causes shock running through his body and temperature drops rapidly as his worst fears start to surface.

"Huh? Main?" The other officer has barely managed to get these words out due to shock and confusion which are clearly visible to the older man and he breaks the tension by laughing. Few seconds later Senior Inspector Daya realizes that he has been played by his partner and he tries to get mad but it doesn't happen as Abhijeet's laugh is so contagious that Daya couldn't help himself from joining in.

"Mazzaq? Tumhe abhi bhi mazzaq soojh raha hai?" Abhijeet just laughs.

"Arre, itna daant diya ab toh bas karo."

"Tumhe pata hai na, mujhe tumhari yaad-dasht ko lekar mazaq bardasht nahi." Abhijeet nods his head sheepishly. Only Daya has ability to make him feel guilty within a second.

"I know, ab nahi karonga."

"Yeh tumne teen hafte pehle bhi kaha tha." Younger reminds me.

"Arre yaar, jaane bhi do ab, bacche ki jaan loge kya?"

"Baccha... aur tum?" Daya scoffs.

"Kya?" Abhijeet is curious.

"Nahi kuch nahi... waise bhi kehte hain ke burhape pe jaane ke baad log bacche hi ban jate hain." He said in low voice but not low enough as Abhijeet hears it and his eyes go comically wide at this.

"Kya? Tumne mujhe..." That does it, Daya does not hold back his laugh and laughs out loud.

"Yeh ghalat hai, Daya." Abhijeet tries to reason with Daya while adjusting his coat.

"Aur tumne kiya woh theek tha?" The accusation is clear in his voice and Abhijeet knows this is not about the joke but everything that happened before that.

"Arre yaar, sorry keh raha hon na." He is sincere and apologetic which does it for Daya.

"Theek hai. Chalo... lekin agar dobara.." 'Warning', this is what his tone is telling Abhijeet and older man gets the message loud and clear.

"Agli baar phone karke ayonga."

"Agli baar?"

"Haan haan, chalo... mujhe waise bhi bohut bhook lagi hai." Without giving him chance to continue Abhijeet starts walking towards the exit. 'Yeh nahi sudhrega', Daya just shakes his head as he follows his friend towards the exit.
