Bonnie was irritated. Why did everyone assume she and Damon were a couple? Was it so far-fetched to accept that men and women could be just friends? Especially when the said friend was your comatose best-friend's boyfriend/love of her life?
Bonnie cringed at the love of her life title. Bonnie did not believe in love. Not for herself at least. Bonnie didn't even believe in the point of having a relationship. Life was too short to waste on someone to have them disappoint you. Her life was full of irritating men, she did not want to be involved with anyone they would die or cheat on her. The odds were not in her favour.
Bonnie was even more irritated today because she could not fathom why Enzo's opinion mattered. When the resident Mystic Falls rejected-kicked-puppy-love-fool, mistook her relationship with Damon for more than it was, it offended her far more than anyone else. She told herself that it was offensive that someone as pathetic as Enzo I-want-to-sleep-with-my-best-no-my-only-friend-wait-he-hates-me-now-former-friend's-mother was judging her for a non-existent one sided romantic relationship with Damon.
Enzo had just accused her of being in love with Damon for the umpteenth time using words like unrequited, lovelorn and lovesick.
Bonnie had just muttered under her breath, "Takes one to know one."
When Enzo's nostrils flared, eyes narrowed and his lips pursed Bonnie cackled. It was not like Bonnie to cackle but she did again which made Enzo make a hasty retreat.
After Enzo's involuntary admission, Bonnie took every opportunity to torment Enzo. She frequently teased him about Damon. She found it cute how the anarchist vampire feebly denied his feelings for Damon.
It made so much sense. Damon and Lily. Enzo was a Salvatoresexual well... Stefan was the only anomaly. Bonnie had briefly met Sarah, Enzo was very fond of her but there were no sparks between Sarah and Enzo, not like the tension between Damon and Enzo. Bonnie briefly wondered if Damon was aware of the sheer amount of time he spent looking at Enzo's lips hungrily.
The more fixated Bonnie was on Enzo and Damon's forbidden love, the less she felt inclined to be Damon's kept-in-the-dark-taken-for-granted sidekick. She had more important mysteries to unearth. Such as had Damon and Enzo done the deed in the Augustine cells? Caroline was of no use, she saw Enzo as a brother and did not want to imagine him doing anything sexual with Damon, especially considering her traumatic past with said Salvatore.
It was just this line of through she was engrossed in when Alex St. John approached her to work at the Armoury. Bonnie agreed, despite not trusting Alex, the chance to be around magical artifacts and learning about other witches was too good an opportunity to pass up. Her instincts told her to be careful.
When she saw Enzo's petulant face she knew she had made the right decision. She would pay him back for all the stupid insinuations he'd made at her expense over her pining for Damon.
She was Bonnie Sheila Bennett, if anyone would be pining for love, it would be Damon pining for her love. Bonnie wasn't desperate for someone as selfish and childish as Damon to suddenly fall in love with her.
Bonnie had standards, the kind of lover she wanted would be someone who understood her and did not take advantage of her. She would find him or her one day. Till then she was content to tease Enzo about his unrequited love for Damon Salvatore.
