The mobile phone on Jack's desk vibrated, the intermittent buzzing waking the Captain from his daydream. Faintly annoyed, he reached a lazy hand out towards the phone.

"Captain Jack Harkness speaking."

"Oh and I thought it might be Eye-Candy," moaned the voice at the other end of the line. "I'm almost disappointed."

"You could just say hello," Jack replied, suddenly much more alert. "What do you want?"

"Oh now, be polite... no need to be touchy," John hesitated. "I was hoping you might be able to help me actually. I've got into a tiny bit of trouble with your police people. They threw me in the back of a van and brought me to...erm...actually I don't know where I am. Anyway they gave me one call so I thought of you. It's your lucky day Captain Jack Harkness!"

"What sort of trouble?"

"Oh nothing. Just a small misunderstanding," John replied, dismissively.

"Please tell me you haven't murdered someone?"

"No...no. Have a little faith Jack. He's still alive.... as far as I know."

Jack rolled his eyes.

"So what do you want me to do?"

"Rescue me! You and Eye-Candy. Knights in shining armour. Or suits. Knights in suits."

"I don't have the authority to release prisoners. Not unless they're alien, or useful," Jack lied.

"I'm useful. You need me. Can't you just ask nicely? Please?" Jack could hear a slight hint of panic in John's voice.

"What's it worth?"

"I don't know. Hang on." There was a faint shuffling at the other end of the phone as John searched his pockets. "Half a packet of mints, two coins and a piece of paper with a phone number on it. It's all I've got left. They took my gun. Oh and you can have a kiss but only if you rescue me."

"Who's phone number?"

"She was blonde, tall, slim, human. Gorgeous. You can have her too if you get me out. She's your type."

"I don't have a type. Ok...I'll see what I can do. I'll pass on that kiss though, Ianto might get jealous. I've got to go. Lots of important things to do. I'm not promising but I might see you soon. Bye." Jack replaced the phone before John started his "You know that's why I really love you" speech.

"Ianto!" Jack called.

The young Welshman appeared at Jack's office door.

"We might need some of that coffee of yours, looks like it's going to be a very long night."
