Chapter 1- Fight

Zack knows just how to get his way. I don't know how he does it, but he just has this thing about him that no one else does. I keep denying it, but I know it's the truth. I love my brother more than I should. If only he knew how much he tortures me. It's like I don't exist when he's with his boyfriend, Caleb. I understand, they think they love each other, but I don't think it'll last as long as I'm here.

"Zack, can I come over?" Caleb asks when we're walking home.

"Sure," Zack says, busy with putting his binders away.

"Cool, so what do you think of New York?" Caleb asks.

"It's cool. Just takes some getting used to," Zack says.

"What about you, Cody?" Caleb asks.

"It's alright, I guess," I say.

When we get home, Zack and Caleb go upstairs while I do my homework. When I'm finished, I go upstairs and hear fighting. It's muffled, but I hear Zack's yelling like no other.

"No, Caleb!" Zack yells.

"You said you would!" Caleb says.

"I am NOT having sex with you!" Zack yells. My jaw is wide open.

"WHY?" Caleb yells.

"The more you push me, the more I'm going to say no!" Zack says.

"Zack, come here," Caleb says.

"No! Fuck no!" Zack yells.

"C'mere, baby," Caleb says.

"Get out, Caleb," Zack says.

"Zack, please!" I hear Caleb say in a pleading voice. I run downstairs and sit down, and I see Zack go down the stairs and opens the door for Caleb. Caleb gets out, and Zack walks away from the door.

"What happened?" I ask.

"Caleb is a selfish son of a bitch," Zack says.

"Why? I thought you guys were inseparable," I say.

"Okay, brothers tell each other everything, right?" Zack says.

"Yeah," I say.

"Okay. Caleb wanted to…um…have sex with me," Zack says. My jaw drops.

"So you said no?" I ask.

"Yeah, and that didn't go over well," Zack says.

About an hour later, Mom gets home, and brings food. Now, we all know how bad of a cook that she is, but unlike Zack, I like to say it's good anyway. Side note: I love how honest Zack is wherever he goes.

"How was your day, Zack?" Mom asks.

"Interesting," Zack says.

"And what about yours, Cody?" Mom asks.

"It was good," I say.

"What happened?" Mom asks.

"Caleb and I broke up," Zack says. I smile on the inside.

"Aw, why, Zack?" Mom asks.

"For private reasons," Zack says.

"I liked him. I hope you two get back together," Mom says.

"I don't. I hope he wallows in self pity," I mutter.

"Why is that?" Mom asks.

"There's something about him I don't like, that's all," I say.

"Can we change the subject?" Zack asks, uncomfortable.

"Sorry, honey. Yes, we can," Mom says.

"I'm gonna go skateboarding. Wanna come, Cody?" Zack says, standing up.

"Yeah, sure," I say.
