-What Could Have Happened-

He was dead.

If I was still human I'd have tears running down my eyes. We had lost... But had I really ever thought we would've won? The Volturi were more experienced, more trained. My weak little shield couldn't hold.

They all had died. All except for Alice. We were completely and utterly alone. The Volturi had the ones they wanted. Benjamin had died purely on accident, one I was sure Aro was berating himself for at this very moment.

"Aro, I am still not joining you."

I, myself, was suprised at my words. Aro turned towards me, shock evident in his eyes.

"My dear, you have no choice."

I chuckled. A morbid chuckle, but a chuckle none the less.

"I always have a choice, Aro. I'm sure I could set myself on fire, perfectly well." My voice was light and cheery. I laughed. "Just a flick of a match and off I go. I wonder if suicide would send you to hell?"

Aro looked slightly scared. Alice was sitting, staring at the flames as if she couldn't believe they were gone.

"Now, now Aro. You didn't expect me to just bow down to the man who killed my family. The man who murdered my husband and daughter." I laughed again, hysteria creeping into my voice. "Alice, dear, would you like to join me in my burning?"

Alice looked up, depression evident. She stood up before walking towards me, and reaching out to take my hand.

"I will not live without him."

Aro was speechless.

Hand in hand, Alice and I walked towards the fire. When we reached it I turned to look at Aro.

"Goodbye, Aro, Leader of the Volturi. I hope you perish in pain, and that you do not come to where ever I go."
I waved cheerfully.

And we walked into the fire.

I laughed as the flames licked my skin, burning and melting. I smelt the putrid sweet smell surround us, Alice smiling as we died.

And then it was gone.
