Dancing towards the edge of destruction had always been Knock Out's way. He was good at it. He hadn't expected the destruction to not be his own. Staring at Breakdown's broken body, hurt and it hurt in a way he didn't know how to express. Emotions were a weakness and yet he swore he felt ghost tears down his face. He had never put much thought in humans to be a risk. He raced them for sport and it made him feel free.

He was at a lost to know where to even begin repairing. He could fix everything but not his eye. He would never be whole but he wasn't whole himself. Only his scars were carefully hidden where as everyone could see Breakdown's lost. He screamed inside as he felt his carefully re-made world falling apart around him. He couldn't handle this, atlease, not alone.

Breakdown understood and despite the pain, he sat up and carefully pulled the smaller Decepticon into his arms. It was risky, if Megatron ever knew how much he mattered to Knock Out, he knew Megatron would play his cards sooner than planned. He could try to bid flavors with Starscream but the seeker was rarely that kind. He had told him how Knock Out had begged and even nearly gave up his body just to get the seeker to move. It pained Breakdown to know Knock Out was that willing to save him when it was his mistake that had caused the problem in the first place.

Knock Out had saved him from the Wreckers. Had taught him it was okay to think for himself and even question his leaders. Wheeljack had seen the red mech as a threat and had him beaten for what he was doing. Unknown to both, he was a spy within their ranks. The truth hadn't bothered Breakdown, even as the red mech cried for him during the painful repairs. He had left the Wreckers with Knock Out in his arms. He had watched the Decepticons repair him more fully and he begged to join. They hadn't trusted him at first but he was proud to be beside Knock Out as the medic trained him.

Knock Out felt so safe in Breakdown's arms. He looked up at the mech who become his shield from the darkness. Breakdown laid back down so Knock Out could start the repairs. He was thankful to be under as Knock Out took his time to do it right. Breakdown vowed never again would Knock Out have to feel alone and never again would he fail his partner.

Knock Out finished the last minor repair. Breakdown dared him for a race. The medic eyed him, not sure where he was getting the sudden urge to race. Breakdown always turned him down for racing all the times before. But it felt like a thing to do for fun and he agreed. Breakdown knew he would lose to the better mech and he knew Knock Out needed the ego boast.

It was well into the night when Breakdown gave up. He had hoped for atlease one win but Knock Out was skilled and seemed to be a natural runner. He smiled as Knock Out leaned against him tiredly. It seemed even Knock Out ran out of energy. Breakdown lifted the mech into his arms and held him close as he walked back to the ship.
