Title: Out of the Grave into the Fire
Pairing: Buffy/Angel(us)
Summary: Angel's disappearance after Buffy's death raises suspicions with his enemies. This leads to discoveries about his past Angel would have rather kept secret.
Spoilers: Up to season 6 BTVS and season 3 ATS anything is fair game, but as you will see I am going to be screwing both timelines up quite a bit so who knows what could end up happening.
Prologue
Two lone figures, one male and the other female, sat in the back of a pristine limousine, the only light source coming from the orange glowing embers of the cigarette hanging out of the man's lips.
Both pairs of eyes were trained outward at one Sunnydale's many fine cemeteries. The two continued to sit occasionally shuffling around unable to hold in their anticipation at the events unfolding before them.
Just at the edge of their sight the pair were able to make out a group of people circled around a gravestone, but it was not them that interested the pair, it was what they were about to do.
The woman in the limo shifted uncomfortably and made a small cry of disgust when one of the members of the group outside essentially threw up a snake.
"What's the matter Lilah? Can't handle the irony of the situation," the man commented snickering at her while extinguishing the cigarette in an ash tray.
Lilah quickly glared at him in a most unfriendly manner, "What's it even mean to you Gavin?"
A small snicker came from Gavin, "Just saying that you happen to be quite the snake as well. Always plotting your little games, and mostly just being the conniving bitch you are. And if this supposed hunch," he said emphasizing the words hunch, "of yours doesn't pan out I can't see the Senior Partners being too lenient with you. Especially after all the money you invested into this project the past three months."
Lilah decided to say nothing right away and instead leaned back into the leather seats, an all knowing smile gracing her face, "You'll see. After tonight I sincerely doubt it will be me the Senior Partners cut."
Her counterpart shot her a questioning look but remained quiet.
Both lawyers looked outward again as the sound of engines revving tore through the night air. They strained their eyes to try and get a good look at the action outside. Eventually Gavin pointed towards the group, "Isn't that the…" he started before Lilah cut him off.
"No. It's a fake."
The scene in the graveyard continued to escalate until eventually the two groups had split up into even smaller groups and the spot that they had congregated was left abandoned.
Slowly the two lawyers got out of the limousine, which still had remained untouched through the pandemonium around them, and strolled slowly over to where the others had been.
They came to a stop and surveyed the damage around them. Broken shards of a vase littered the ground, and the tracks from motorcycles were clearly visible in the soft grass.
After standing still for nearly a minute Gavin spoke up, "Didn't you say that they would not fail tonight," he said anger behind his every word.
Lilah rolled her eyes at the over eager man, "Did you never learn patience when you were a child… Oh wait I forgot you still are a child. Forgive me little boy," she shot back sarcasm littering all her words.
Suddenly the ground in front of them began to shift around until eventually a small hand began to break through the dirt and grass.
"Told you," Lilah stated callously, before pulling a syringe out of the inside pocket of her coat and moving towards the slowly emerging girl.
A/N: Well how do you like it? Any kind of reviews are accepted since they do make me write faster anyways. Mind you this is only a prologue so not all your questions are answered yet.
