Center of the Sun
By SMYGO4EVA

Close your eyes, and the world takes a turn.

Being the Avatar, sometimes, was like swimming in oil.

She was holding the whole Earth's spirit - it is visceral, slick, and it slips through her fingers so easily.

One moment she would be in control, and then thoughts and feelings would be scattered in a split second.

In the darkest hour, she was almost drowning, clawing to the surface, and not even fire, water, or the earth would keep her from the underwater that pulled her down.

Korra didn't even know why she bothered anymore. It was more sense that she just had to be Republic City's threshold. It was near the point where there was no longer a reason to being the Avatar, being Avatar Aang's replacement.

There was simply a drive. Sooner or later, there would only be the sense that going forward was all that was left of her.

Sometimes the face would flash before her and she would be filled with both hatred and fear.

Sometimes a simple memory would flicker and her resolve would soon strengthen then and there.

It would be then that she would seize the chance to look beyond her own eyes and see the center of the sun at that moment.
