Hiei stared at the…thing in his hand. His heart felt like it was in his throat. His pulse pounded in his ears. His stomach knotted and felt like lead. When his hands began shaking, he dropped the object on the floor. The result continued to stare up at him. He knew the test was not wrong. It was the third one he had taken and had gotten the same result. He was pregnant. Hiei knew it was possible but he never thought it would happen to him. The small fire demon sat heavily on the floor as his legs gave out on him. He was not prepared for a baby. Hiei did not even know if his mate wanted a child. A knock on the bathroom door broke him from his thoughts.
"Hiei are you okay? You've been in there a while," his sister asked through the door. She was the one who had gotten the tests for him. He swallowed and took a deep, shaky breath.
"You can come in Yukina," he called. The door opened and the green haired girl walked in. Seeing her twin on the floor, she hurried over and knelt beside him.
"What's wrong Hiei? What did the test say?" she asked nervously.
"I'm pregnant. Yukina I don't know what I'm going to do. What if Yusuke doesn't want the baby?" Hiei said distressed.
"Oh Hiei he loves you and he'll love this baby too. If he doesn't then you can come stay with me. I wouldn't mind helping you with the baby," she said comfortably.
"Thank you Yukina. If I need your help I won't hesitate to ask for it but I want to tell Yusuke when he gets home. He's already suspecting that something's bothering me and I don't want to worry him more than I already am."
"I understand Hiei. I'll help you clean up and then I'll leave. Do you want me to make dinner before I go?"
"No I can make it. The morning sickness hasn't started yet and for that I'm grateful."

When Yusuke walked in he was greeted with the smell of his lover's famous spaghetti sauce. It made his empty stomach growl in anticipation. He headed into the kitchen to see his small lover putting food on the table. The ex-spirit detective smiled and walked up to the fire demon, wrapping his arms around his shoulders from behind. Hiei smiled and leaned back against the other black haired male. Tilting his head back, he accepted the gentle kiss that was pressed to his lips. Yusuke released his mate and they sat down to eat. Dinner was carried out mostly in comfortable silence with light conversation scattered throughout. When they had finished, Yusuke finally voiced what had been on his mind for two weeks now.
"Hiei is everything okay? You've been distracted for a few weeks now and it's worrying me," Yusuke asked. Hiei frowned and lightly bit his bottom lip from his nerves.
"I'm pregnant, Yusuke. I've suspected for about two weeks now but I wanted to be certain before saying anything. Yukina brought me three different tests today to check and they all came back positive," he said. Yusuke sat there stunned for a minute before he stood and walked around the table to scoop Hiei up into his arms. He kissed the small demon passionately as he spun them around. Hiei smiled into the kiss and buried a hand in Yusuke's hair. When the taller of the two pulled away, he was smiling like a loan. It was clear that he was happy about the baby.
