A/N: this is just something really short that i thought up. It's kidna like an "I'm sorry for keeping you from that FMA fic so please nibble on this while i work on the goodies" kind of thing. But i think it's kinda sweet. Is that weird?
i also don't own Kurama, Hiei, or Kurama's Mama [heehee, i like saying that, derp.] If i did, i would be getting money from the series not writing pointless words r-r
Soft hands moved to push red hair out of the way. Shuichi Minamino sat at his desk, working on his homework, as per usual. When Shiori, his human mother, decided to come upstairs to check on him, she would only be able to perceive the image that he was showing: a simple, studious teenager attempting to stay on track with his school work. What Shiori would not see, however, was what her darling son truly was: a skilled (and rather well-known) thief, who also happened to be a kitsune.
Shiori, believing all to be well with her son, and with the less-than-adequate senses of a human, would also not notice the extra shadow on the tree outside of Kurama's window. How could she be able to tell that the shadow had moved when there was no wind at all, or that her son's energy seemed to increase every time that the shadow moved? No, she would not notice. And because she trusted her son completely, she would never notice that the one extra shadow on the tree would move to her son's window, or that her son had stopped writing and was simply feigning his perfect façade, hoping for the moment that she went back downstairs.
And, after looking at her son with the affection and adoration that only a mother could feel towards her child, Shiori could then finally go back downstairs to rest, content that her son would get up to no mischief that night, or any night, for how could one so perfect as Shuichi Minamino do any wrong? Do anything more than be a good, pure, school-minded youth?
She would never know that while Shuichi Minamino had his own personal rules that would do nothing to cause his mother emotional distress, Kurama, the notorious fox who was used to getting exactly what he wanted, could always bend the rules for a certain small shadow named Hiei.
