Shameless fluff; if you don't want cavities, don't read! In my head-canon, Gardavoirs are very sentimental.

I sat outside on the grass, the warm night breeze blowing against me. Samantha, my Gardevoir, lay beside me, staring up at the stars, smiling in wonder.

"Hey... I've wanted to talk about something," I said slightly nervously. What I was feeling was... in my eyes, not right... but I couldn't just... ignore them.

I felt an intensity within him... that same intensity that was within me.

She got up from her laying position and sat in front of me. We both crossed our legs and then I averted my gaze, breathing in and out quite nervously now. "I feel warm right here," I said, resting my hand on my heart, "whenever I'm around you."

What was he saying...?

"It feels so wrong... to feel so right... with you... I mean... You're a Pokemon... I'm your damn trainer... I mean... it's wrong... it's so right..." I trailed off, my face growing much redder.

"Mark..."

"Yes, S-Sam?" I trembled a bit, the tone in her telepathic voice deep and much warmer than usual.

"I... I... I don't know... what to say. It's all so... new to me... I never expected you to... feel that way..."

Her nervous telepathy rang in my head. I feared the worst but asked anyways, "H-How do you... feel?"

"I... it's hard to explain... I bonded with you... I dedicated my life to you... I dedicated my life to protecting you... But then... it became something... more..."

A rush of confidence overtook me and I asked, "Do you dedicate your life to... loving me?" I shivered and blushed a mere second later.

She cracked a very warm smile and nodded softly. I finally mustered the courage to gaze into her warm eyes. I then rested my hands on top of hers and said softly, "I love you, Samantha. N-Not like t-trainer to Pokemon... b-but... y'know... like how my Mom and Dad love each other... You know how they are when they're together, right?"

"Those smiles... You know... I-I love you, Mark... It's just... I figured you'd never be in love... you know... with your own Pokemon... A trainer dating his Gardevoir... So weird... haha..."

She looked at the ground shyly, nervously giggling. "Shh... it's okay, Sam... I love weird... but not as much as I love you. Since the day I met you, you've been way more than a Pokemon to me... whenever people asked to trade, I'd get so mad... You were a person to me... and not just anyone... someone I loved... and love even more deeply now..." I said, my eyes glowing with love and affection.

Oh my heart...

She tilted her head up gently and smiled, her eyes sparkling with warmth. I leaned in and pressed my lips against hers. She started to kiss back, causing my body to shoot up and down with inexplicable warmth.

Her lips and mine...

My mind melted into mush... all the fears of rejection from the past evaporating like steam. I never wanted to stop kissing her... Something about her lips... so divine, so wonderful... The only reason we parted the kiss a couple minutes later is that we were both running out of breath.

She then crawled up into my lap and rested her head against my chest. I put my arms around her softly and kissed the top of her head. She nuzzled my chest gently, closing her eyes as she relaxed into the embrace.

"I'll always be there for you..."

Her beautiful telepathic voice came in the form of a whisper. I responded with a kiss to her forehead, which elicited an even more content smile from her.

"Y'know that one time some trainer wanted me to trade you in for a Gallade and even offered a battle...?" I asked, gently chuckling.

"Mhmm..."

She giggled delicately, "And we both gave him the middle finger and walked off," I continued. Her giggling intensified a bit. "Losing you would've been the end of me..." My voice grew a little sadder.

"Couldn't imagine my life without you..."

"Neither could I..." I closed my eyes and held her close, knowing that we'd have each other until the very end of our days. "Hey... I've got an idea..."

"What is it, sir?"

"Maybe we could... settle down," I said. Both our hearts started beating faster at the implication of the question... I then gently took her out of my lap and got up, giving her a serious but warm gaze... Here went nothing...

What was he doing...?

I got down on one knee and closed my eyes, steeling myself for the question of a lifetime... "W...W...Will you... marry... me?" I was blushing redder than a tomato when I felt myself being knocked over to the ground, kisses showering over my face and neck. I looked up to see Samantha smiling like a total fool.

"Duh. Didn't even need to ask."

She giggled again. I then started to think deeply, scratching my chin softly. "Do you wish to retire?"

"What do you mean...?"

"Y'know... I've been thinking of enjoying the quiet moments in life... so what I mean is... do you want scale back and enjoy those quiet moments with me?" I asked, smiling softly. I stopped seeing the point of always trying to be the 'best.' Being the best wasn't being on top of the Pokemon Champions list. Being the best was being with my beloved Sam.

"You know, I wouldn't mind that one bit."

"Be right back." I went back in the house briefly to grab my backpack. I came back out and pulled out the Pokeball I used to hold her in whenever we would be in tournament matches.

I then put the Pokeball on the ground and grabbed the hammer out of my bag and smashed the ball repeatedly until it was in dozens of pieces. "You're never going in that again. That's my promise to you."

She stood there speechless, covering her mouth with an awed stare. I then took all the pieces and scattered them into the wind. "You're who matters; the ball means nothing to me."

"...one reason out of millions that I love you."

I went over to her and kissed her lips again, my hands moving down to her red heart piece, feeling it gently. She kissed back while gasping a little, which pleased me deep down.

"Leave the touching for the marriage bed, Mark~."

I pulled my hands away from her heart piece, wrapping them around her lithe form until they reached her back. We continued to kiss until again we ran out of breath. I then interlocked my four fingers (not including my thumb) with her three digits, and we walked down the street together.

"Where are we going?"

"To my parents' house."

"Oh gosh they're gonna freak out if-"

I deadpanned, "They wanted us to be together believe it or not."

"Oh for Arceus' sake, you gotta be kidding me."

"Nope," I rolled my eyes, "I take it you went there to visit them?"

"Of course. A Gardavoir will visit the parents of the one she loves and protects."

"And how did they react?"

"They gushed over me. I even cooked them fine dinner."

"They never told you that we should be married?"

"Nope."

"It's weird that they told me all the time... maybe they wanted me to pop that question."

"Apparently so."

She giggled again. We were there. I then saw her underneath the streetlight and stared at her wonderful green hair intently.

"Mark, what are you doing?"

"I'm simply observing your most beautiful hair, madame," I said with a dash of carefree goofiness. She rolled her eyes and then I took a deep breath. I walked up to the porch, and she followed right behind me.

I knocked on the door.

Haha, 'cliffhanger,' guys. Hope you enjoyed the super sugary fluff!
