MAN WITH A DANGEROUS PLAN

"Sam…" whispered Dean Winchester as he shuffled next to his brother. Receiving no response, he tried again. "Sam…"
"What?" replied Sam softly. "C'mon, Dean, we need to get outta this hospital and get you home."
"No, c'mere. C'mere, c'mere, c'mere…" Dean swayed slightly while entreating Sam to come closer even though they were already side by side.
With a sigh, Sam canted his head toward Dean. "What, Dean?"
"I feel all…floaty…" Dean wiggled his fingers. "Like a balloon."
Sam nodded. "Yeah, it's the painkillers, Dean. You get loopy every time they put you on strong painkillers."
"I do?"
"You do."
"Oh…"
"Can we go now?"
"Okay, but make sure you hang on to me…I don't want to float away."
"I got you. C'mon."
A minute later, Dean dug his heels in and brought Sam to an abrupt stop. "Sam, look!" He pointed at the gift shop window.
Confused, Sam's brow wrinkled. "What?"
"Suckers with BUGS in them! I want one."
"Dean, you hate bugs."
"No, I don't."
"Dude, you're like 38, not 5. I'm not buying you a sucker with a bug in it."
Despite his determination, Sam caved to Dean's imploring look. If nothing else, buying him one would get them on the road faster. He chose a green lollipop with a small scorpion in it and handed it to Dean.
"Happy now?" He watched Dean unwrap the disturbingly disgusting treat.
"Uh huh."
They were less than a mile away from the hospital when Dean fell asleep. Sam took the candy from Dean's lax grip and tucked it away, knowing his brother would likely never remember having had it. Sam had a plan. Once Dean was well on the mend, Sam decided he might just have to leave a little surprise on Dean's pillow one morning. Never mind payback.
