I've recently gotten back into The Giver triology. I read all three books just a few days ago. It got me thinking when I was on here, that maybe I should put up my own epilouge that I had written during my freshmen year of high school. I hope you enjoy it.
And please, ignore the horrid writing of my freshmen self. XD

No, as always, I do not own the series. Thank you.

Epilogue

It was late at night, Christmas music was playing about. The snow, angry for no reason, flurried about. No seemed to mind though, they were safe in their warm homes. However, outside, covered in snow was a small boy. Next to him was a bright red sled turned over. He held a swaddle of breathing ripped cloth. If you'd been outside you, if you could see him, would think he was dead. However he wasn't. All you had to wait was, but a second, and you would see him stir and then open his bright knowing eyes. Can't you tell the difference between yours and his? His have seen something you have not. His are wise. Wait a minute! Something else is stirring! A baby boy looks up, also revealing bright blue eyes. His eyes, too, were knowing and wise. This baby had seen more than most adults would. Seeing the great pain, both physical and mental, you reach out to them. You pick them up and take them to your house. However, no matter how comfortable they are, you can still see the endless agony in their eyes. There is one thing that catches the boy's eyes. The medium sized tree you were recently forced to put up. They stare at each other and then look at you. The boy smiles a sad smile.

"Thank you"

"For what?"

"For Christmas."

Jonas had been confused when he woke up to a stranger staring at him. He was glad to be alive, but who was this person? Jonas lost his attention on this person when he looked down. He sighed with relief when he saw Gabe wake up. Good they were both alive. They had made it. However, thinking about what they had done made Jonas cringe. He was so deep in his distressed thoughts; he didn't notice the stranger reach out to them. Unwary, Jonas weakly accepted knowing there was nothing else he could do. He was grateful when the stranger took them to a warm house. As soon as he was settled, Jonas took in his surroundings. He almost jumped in shock at the tree in the corner. It was almost like the one The Giver had shown him. He turned and looked at Gabe for a second. Silent words passing between them. Then Jonas turned and smiled at the stranger.

"Thank you"
