A barren, windswept landscape.

Nothing lives, nothing moves, and all is dark.

For eternity this exists until suddenly, off in the distance a speck of light appears, growing larger and larger. Where the light touches suddenly bursts into life! Trees, plants, rivers, all appear at the touch of this beautiful light!

All is not well though, the new life needs caretakers. The light begins to craft creatures, birds and animals, insects and fish. All cater to the needs of the plants birthed by the light's touch. The world is green and happy, living freely in the glow of the light!

New creatures appear to take care of the world, and they begin to build. They built roads and stairs, temples and farms! They build a civilization, one to last for centuries! And it does.

Until an old prophet speaks into the ear of the leaders of the new race. They creatures begin building tombs and puzzles instead of temples and roads, to confuse any happenstance wanderer while still letting the chosen through.

They write on tablets to record their story and leave them for the newcomer who is sure to appear. The light begins fading in the east, slowly sinking to the horizon while the creatures continue their work.

It gets dimmer and dimmer, taking all the life on the planet with it. First the insects begin dying, then the fish, then the birds and the animals. Without their caretakers the plants begin to die as well, turning into gray husks that stand as a reminder of what once was.

Through all this, the creatures keep toiling, transforming their planet into a maze of tombs, graves, and puzzles for the chosen to find, long after they're gone. Still decades pass, and finally the light goes out, plunging the world into utter darkness. The creatures finally die, their toil completed, leaving their bodies to await the chosen that will appear to make their planet whole again.
