Elle Woods, with a pedicured toe, drew a line in the shag carpet under her feet and sighed, staring at the blue bucket in the middle of the room.

Drip, Drip... Drip.

Emmett was going to have a heart attack.

"Elle, I'm so sorry. I mean, you just moved in and this happens and I promise we'll figure it out and I—"

The problem in question was the leak from the ceiling. In almost every room there was a drip, because of the water leak in the apartment above Emmett's. Not much over a few months ago, Elle graduated and moved in with her fiancé. He had contemplated on purchasing a new place but this... this was a sign.

"Emmett," Elle stood up, carefully crossing to take his hands. "It's okay. You dork. This apartment could collapse on top of us and I'd still be in love with yo-"

As if on cue, in the center of the room and a few feet away from them, the ceiling began to crack and fall in soggy pieces. Elle pressed to his chest in shock, before collapsing into laughter. Emmett, however, didn't find it so funny.

With her bags in her arms and Bruiser on a leash, Elle arrives at Vivienne's apartment around 8. Two people and a dog were a lot to house, but Vivienne lived alone otherwise and didn't mind helping her friends out. The brunette opens the door and grins, holding it open farther.

"Hey you two. How are you?"

"I can't tell what's falling apart faster— our apartment or our lives." Elle jokes, nudging Emmett. He doesn't speak, just smiles and nods.

Vivienne lets them in and explains their sleeping situation in the living room. She offered food but Elle only took a bit and fed it to Bruiser, before setting her things down and sitting on top of the air mattress. Emmett lay beside her, reading. Or, pretending to. Elle could visibly tell because he would look a lot more interested if he was actually focused. She caught on to little things with her Emmett.

"Em, Honey." She interjects. "Let's talk."

He's never looked cuter, she decides as she sits beside him and runs her hands through his hair. His curly brown locks were askew and crystal blue eyes questioning, Elle would take anyone to court who argued that he wasn't the most precious thing on this Earth.

She combs his hair with her hand. "Baby, it's okay. You're not any less to me because of this."

"I know.. I just feel bad." He mumbles, nose pressed against the side of her thigh. "We're supposed to be getting married and I can't even house us."

"Okay big, bad, dominant Male Figure." Remarks Elle chastely, with a light smile. "We're all okay. Bruiser's okay, I'm okay, you're okay. That's all that matters. Insurance will take care of the rest. And we can get a new apartment, and start our lives new. Okay?"

Emmett found her hand and intertwined their fingers. "I love you so much and I don't even think you realize that."

Elle chuckles, clandestinely arguing that she loved him more in her head. She was about to voice her opinion, when Vivienne burst into the room.

"Move." She pushes Emmett with her foot, climbing over him and turning on the TV while clutching her cell phone. "Yes I'm turning it on, Enid."

Three sets of eyes turned to the news blaring on Vivienne's set. A unanimous gasp escaped their lips.

Nobody spoke, except Emmett, softly.

"Oh my god."
