What an ugly night it turned out to be. Smoke rose from the flickering end of a man's cigarette, as he sighed and got up from his seat on the balcony. Rain poured from the sky, lightning illuminating the pitch black night, and thunder rattling everything in sight. It was well past midnight, but the man couldn't seem to find it in himself to fall asleep. Water dripped from his black hair as he found his way into the connecting room. Inside of it was a large bed, housing a small boy as he slept soundless through the monsoon occurring outside. The man's golden eyes lit up as he saw his master…his best friend.
Oz, you have always been the deepest sleeper I have ever known. Gilbert chuckled. He walked to the far side of the room where a drawer was and began changing into dry clothes. I might as well change into pajamas, and see if I can get some sleep. Once Gil was done, he took a seat next to bed and looked at the sleeping blonde. There was a sad expression on the boy's face, and his breathing was a bit shallow.
Gilbert looked at Oz's paling face and thought for a minute. I've never seen Oz sad, at least not where it was this visible. And Gil hated that he hasn't. Oz gave Gil everything. A home, warmth, happiness, Oz gave Gil his humanity, his heart. But the man has never once gotten to return the favor. Oz would never show the moments when he was weakest. I think he's afraid to let anyone love him…all because of his worthless father. I bet he's never touched anyone because he's scared of their reaction. He never lets anyone in, he never admits to needing someone. I wonder how long he can go living such an empty life. How lonely is he going to be before he snaps?
Gil couldn't stand the thoughts any longer. Even if the blonde would never say so, he's a lost soul looking for a reason to smile. He needed something constant in his life, something he knows will always be save him. The elder bent over and whispered into the teenager's ear, "I'll be the only thing in your life that is there forever, I'll be your constant, and I'll be your light."
The 24 year old got into the bed, trying not to disturb his master's sleep. Once on the other side, he wrapped his arms around the blonde and pulled him close. "Rest happily for the night, Oz." Gil fell into a peaceful sleep, and his heart slowed to meet the pace of the boy's. The child's mouth slowly turned upwards to form a small smile. Without opening his eyes, Oz simply said, "Let's be like this forever," and fell into a true sleep. For once, his smile wasn't part of his act.
