I downloaded several new songs today, and this was one of them. While listening to it, I got the inspiration for this story.

It's quite different from my usually, fluffy stories. I would consider this to be more of poem.

Enjoy.

Disclaimer: I do not own Sonny With a Chance or If I Die Young.

If I die young, bury me in satin
Lay me down on a bed of roses
Sink me in the river at dawn
Send me away with the words of a love song

The quiet buzzing of machines,
Keeping her alive.

Lord make me a rainbow, I'll shine down on my mother
She'll know I'm safe with you when she stands under my colors

The soft tears of her mother,
Making no sound.

Oh, and life ain't always what you think it ought to be, no
Ain't even gray, but she buries her baby

The gentle sound of breathing,
Peaceful at the last.

The sharp knife of a short life
Well, I've had just enough time

The silent form of death,
Creeping ever closer.

If I die young, bury me in satin
Lay me down on a bed of roses

Sink me in the river at dawn
Send me away with the words of a love song

The sudden disturbance,
Shattering the quiet.

And I'll be wearing white when I come into your kingdom
I'm as green as the ring on my little cold finger

The hushed whispers of the nurses,
Trying to regain peace.

I've never known the loving of a man
But it sure felt nice when he was holding my hand

The angry shouts of a young man,
Demanding more time.

The sharp knife of a short life
Well, I've had just enough time

The loud bang of the door,
Slamming against the wall.

There's a boy here in town, says he'll love me forever
Who would have thought forever could be severed by

The agonized cry of a young man,
Losing his first love.

The sharp knife of a short life
Well, I've had just enough time

The tears from his blue eyes,
Falling on her hand

So put on your best, boys, and I'll wear my pearls
What I never did is done

The sudden movement of her eyes,
Opening against the light.

A penny for my thoughts, oh no, I'll sell 'em for a dollar
They're worth so much more after I'm a goner

The gentle sound of her voice,
Soothing her love.

And maybe then you'll hear the words I been singing
Funny, when you're dead how people start listening

The soft pressure of his lips,
Covering hers.

If I die young, bury me in satin
Lay me down on a bed of roses

The whispered goodbye,
Breaking his heart.

Sink me in the river at dawn
Send me away with the words of a love song

The shadow of death,
Covering her face

The ballad of a dove
Go with peace and love

The peaceful silence,
Filling the room.

Gather up your tears, keep 'em in your pocket
Save them for a time when you're really gonna need them, oh

The depth of her love,
Giving him comfort.

The sharp knife of a short life
Well, I've had just enough time
So put on your best, boys
And I'll wear my pearls

Please let me know what you think :)
